A few thoughts and memories

  • New England- this area of the country is always beautiful but I like it best when the trees are changing colors.
  • Nevada- damn, this state is hot.  And the desert is beautiful.
  • Norway- 2013- one visit is enough as this place is so damn expensive.
  • Nile River- 2010- a five day cruise down this river was not enough time to see all its beauty.
  • North East River- MD- this river owns me.  I have a home about 20 yards from the river and I spend as much time in these waters as I can.
  • Nixon- 38th president of the USA- a kook who resigned just on the cusp of impeachment.
  • North Sea- It's cold and unpleasant to swim.
  • Nearly drowning- Long Beach Island, NJ- Summer 1990- three life guards came out to get me because I was caught in a riptide.
  • New Year's Eve Celebrations- I've celebrated in Philly, NYC, San Fransisco, Bermuda, Nepal, Galapagos Islands, British Virgin Islands, Belize.
  • Nashville, TN- a great place to listen to all kinds of music.
  • Netflix- I shared an account with my nephew.  One day I noticed  a porn movie on my watched list.  When I confronted my nephew, he told me, "It wasn't that good.  I wouldn't watch it again."
  • New Orleans, LA- one great, fun city but I think I am too old for this level of fun.
  • New Belgium Brewery- CO- a busy place with great beers.
  • Nittany Brewery- PA- I did not like the place.
  • Nittany Lion- PA- the mascot for PSU.  I think I had my picture taken at this statue 100 times in my lifetime.
  • Namibia- 2000- a hidden gem of a country.
  • Nepal- I first went here in 1999 and then returned again in 2017 for 8 weeks.
  • New Zealand- 2015- I didn't spend enough time when I was here as there is so much beauty to explore.
  • Nicaragua- 2011- a lot of poor people live here.
  • Naadam Festival- 2006- Mongolia- their national sports festival.
  • Natural Bridge- VA- you cant actually pass over this bridge.  But you can walk under it.
  • Nebraska- 2009- lots of vast farm lands.
  • New Hampshire- a whole state of sweet, rural towns.
  • New Jersey- my family had a home on Long Beach Island from 1974- 2005.
  • New Mexico- lots of art communities.
  • New York- this state offers the most populated city and the most rural areas.
  • New York City- I love to spend the day in this city.
  • Newport, RI- 1973- huge mansions line the waterfront.
  • Niagara Falls- I've been to both the USA and the Canadian side.
  • North Carolina- the Outer Banks are fun and affordable.
  • Nova Scotia, Canada- a beautiful part of the country.  I've driven there twice and it is a big ass drive.
  • Nancy Drew- I loved reading this books with I was in grade school.
  • Nebraska, the movie- 2016- it's in black and white and the story is hysterical.
  • Napoleon Dynamite- a cult movie that I have seen once and that is enough
  • National Geographic Magazine- I love this magazine.  I love the specials they produce for TV.  I used this venue as a source to dream up my next trip.
  • Natalie Woods- a great actress with a mysterious death.  I think the husband did it.
  • Neil Young- I love his voice and songs: Old Man; Sugar Mountain;  Heart of Gold.
  • Neil Diamond- he also has some great songs: I Am I Said; Solitary Man;  Sweet Caroline
  • Night Owl- I could stay up until 3 or 4 in the morning, every morning.
  • Nirvana- a group I like a little bit: About A Girl holds my attention.
  • Namaste- a greeting I used 1000 times in Nepal.
  • Night time driving- it's becoming more difficult for me.
  • Nuts- cashews, pine nuts, macadamia, almond, Brazil
  • Noodles- I love Asian noodle dishes.
  • Nachos- I love to sit at a bar and drink a beer and eat nachos.
  • Nina Simone- an underrated artist with so much damn talent. I just discovered her about five years ago.
  • Naradad albums- I bought tons of these albums in the 1990s and early 2000s.  They made New Age albums.
  • Nat King Cole- I think he is the oldest musician of my childhood.  I remember hearing him on the radio in 1960.
  • National Anthem- I am not standing for it any longer.
  • Nature's Way- Spirit- I only know this one song from this group.  I listened to it in 1974, during my freshman year in college.
  • Nelson Mandela- a courageous man who saved his country from a civil war.
  • Night Ride Home- Joni Mitchell- one of my favorites.
  • Never My Love- The Associations- a song from my childhood.
  • New Attitude- Patti LA Belle -185- this feel good song always energizes me.
  • New York Mining Disaster ( Have you Seen My Wife, Mr Jones) by the Bee Gees- this is a very strange and obscure song of this group.  I rarely hear it but I always liked it.
  • New York State of Mind- Billy Joel- I like this song.
  • No Woman, No Cry- bob Marley
  • No Regrets- Tom Rush- I now search for remakes, covers of this song because several artists have offered interesting alternatives.
  • Nowhere to Run- Martha and the Vandellas- a song that never gets old.
  • No surrender- sometimes I just can't surrender and then I pay a price.
  • Noises- I am pretty good at tuning out noises in the background.
  • Napping- I am a fairly good napper.
  • North East, MD- a sweet, little town that offers Woody's Restaurant and Steak & Main Restaurant, both places I frequent.
  • National Park Pass- 2017- I got mine for my 62 birthday and it was only $10.  I think they cost $80 now.
  • Notre Dame- IN- 1974- my sister was one of the first women accepted here and I went to visit her during her senior year.
  • Naples, Italy- 2002- as is every place in Italy, a beautiful city.
  • Newark, NJ- I only go here to fly abroad from the airport.
  • Newark, DE- a college town with fun bars.
  • Nagles, Mexico- I crossed this border in 1979.  What an eye opener for me.
  • Northwest String Summit- 2016- Oregon- four fun days.
  • Night Supervisor- Rotating Emergency Shelter- MD- I've done this a few times and it stuns me to see how many homeless people there are in our country.
  • Native American Museum- DC- on my bucket list.
