It was really an effort to find a good craft beer in Australia. They just aren't there yet. I had a hard time finding a stout but that may have been because I was there in the summer.  But this was a stout that I would recommend. It was strong and flavorful and had a nice lingering bite.

A New Goal: At least one brewery in every county in PA

I live right outside of Philadelphia and I have visited lots of breweries within a 30 mile radius of my home.  But now, I think I have to branch out a bit more. Pennsylvania has 67 counties.  So my new goal is to visit at least one  microbrewery in each county. And this goal is really going to be an effort because PA is a big state and there are lots of rural areas which may not even have a brewery. And I advent traveled to a lot of these counties.

It was a Tyson chicken truck.  I think many of these birds were already dead.  I saw a lot of legs that looked stiff and still.  The truck smelled awful. I drive with my window open but I had to pull the window up when I was behind this truck. And I couldn't use my fresh air option because this smell filtered in to my car.  It was noisy.  And I had a fleeting thought of becoming vegan.

I've been familiar with Dale's Pale Ale for years but frankly have never been a fan because the beer is overpriced on the east coast and it was never worth the expense, in my cheap, humble opinion.  But, as usual, it was fun to try out the other beers and the Deviant Dale's IPA was, by far, my favorite beer of the night. I tried both the Scotch Ale and the Nitro Scotch Ale and found that I did like the nitro.  It was smooth with a creamy aftertaste. This place has lots of variety.  There is a beer for everyone.

This brewery is in a great setting.  Right on the main street of the older part of town, this small restaurant exudes the comfort of a neighborhood pub. The beers rotate regularly, but with only 7 beers on tab, there isn’t much to offer in the way of flights.  It didn’t appear as if this was even an option so I didn’t ask.  Most of the beers were lighter than what I normally like to drink.  There was an IPA and a Rye IPA.  I tried both of them and preferred the IPA. 

I wouldn’t recommend that a beer kook go out of her way to visit this brewery.  But this is a pleasant place for locals to try different beers.

  Me too! Sarah ran the race and finished before the bombings but her husband was just two blocks away. We have so much to be thankful for. My prayers to those who are grieving.
