Road Builders
Tibet
July 1999
They work together as a community on this monumental task. They are building a road to their sacred temple in hopes of bringing in more tourists and making some money for themselves. They have no power tools. They are removing boulders and dirt by hand. Sometimes, they tie their shovels together and sing out loud to keep a consistent pace to lift this hard, hard dirt. They are optimistic but not realistic. This road will take years and generations of family members to complete.
