The Beginning of Surrendering to Winter
Jaye is Back in the Hospital
I Head Out to Tunisia
1- M- PA
It's Labor day and the damn summer is over. I hate this day. It's such a surrender to winter. I feel as if I was ripped off this summer because of the balcony/courtyard restorations. We couldn't get outside this building until July 1. We lost much of April, and all of May and June.
Rumors are rampant that trump had a stroke and is going to check out in a few days. I am so hopeful, I may begin to pray if I knew it would help.
We had a cookout today with about 30 people in the building. It was fun but because I suggested it, people put me in charge and I had no interest in being in charge. They kept asking me to make decisions about stuff that was of no interest to me. I don't care where we put the ketchup and mustard and I don't care if we are putting the food on the grill too early.
I've posted 3,300 stories on my blog. That's ten years of work. I've had 1,209,231 views to date. I wonder who is reading my blog and I wonder what they think of it.
Twitter: I’m leaving the country soon for a few weeks. While I’m excited to travel, I’m afraid he will die while I am gone and I’ll miss all the celebration and parties.
2- TU- PA
I had nothing planned so I slept in later than usual and then I went to the lounge and hung with people. Rich is beginning to lose it with the mold situation. He came down to chat with me and I thought he was going to cry in anger.
3-W- PA
I got up early to listen to the press conference by the Epstein victims. If this doesn't bring Trump down, nothing will. These women poured their hearts out to the world. They spoke with courage and the orange idiot responded by calling it a hoax and demeaning them. I just hate him.
We had our annual Faculty Lunch this afternoon. Nine people showed up and three others canceled at the last minute. It was fun. I didn't post a photo of us on FB because it upsets one faculty member who doest get invited.
Afterwards, I went to the Locust Lane Brewery and met a 72 year old man who interested me. We talked for about 2 1/2 hours about politics, religion, family, music, finding your voice. And I thought I could date this man and then I remembered that I have no interest or drive to maintain a relationship with anyone. I can give you you two to three hours of my time and then I am finished with you. So, I didn't suggest that we exchange numbers. I just got up and hugged him and said goodbye.
Twitter: What is one song we should all sing when he finally dies? What should be our anthem of joy.? I’d like to suggest “Beautiful Day.”
4- TH- PA
I went to Bombay Hook to see the Spoonbill and I saw it. I didn't have my good camera with me so my photos are mediocre and I am annoyed with myself.
It was the opening Eagles game and I watched it in the lounge with a few others.
5- F- PA
Four of us met with a reporter to talk about the mold problem in the building. We talked for 2 1/2 hours.
Afterwards, I drove to Chambersburg to see a magnificent sunflower fields.
6- SA- PA
I left the hotel and headed to Yough Brewery, PA, Fayette County
We won the PSU Football game. We are 2-0. But we haven't played a challenging game yet.
In the afternoon, I went to Wolf Brewery PA, Dauphin County. I got back to my apartment in the late evening.
7- SU- PA
I had the first of my pumpkin beer tasting and there were some hits and misses. I picked up a variety of beers from the Pittsburg area. It was nice to have a change of tastes. The last couple of years, I have been buying the same beers from the same breweries.
8- M- PA
John is 43 today. How can that be?
I found another sunflower field near Downingtown and this one has seen better days. Everything was dead.
I drove to Wild Fork, a seafood and meat store and spent a shitload of money. I have enough food to fed Ethiopia. I'm bringing this down to Avalon for our beach celebration.
9- TU- PA/NJ
It's Sharon's birthday. She's 69.
I picked up Helen and we drove to Avalon to spend a few days with Kathy. Sally joined us as well. And we invited Jane to visit us on Thursday. It's been two years since we've done this and it will be great to get together again.
10- W- NJ
It is a gorgeous day but windy as hell but that did not deter me from getting in the pool. Kathy had the heater on and the water reached 89F and it was lovely. But it was cold as hell wen I finally got out.
We were all stunned when we watched Charlie Kirk get murdered in live TV this afternoon. While I hate murder, he was a despicable human being who spread so much hate and divide in our country. His death is just the excuse that MAGA needs to start a war on all nonwhite liberals in the USA.
11- TH- NJ
I had another damn school dream. If I have had 30 of these dreams each year, that would be 450 of these dreams since I retired. But I think I've had more than 30 in a year.
Jane came to visit and we hung by the pool all afternoon. I think I spent four hours in the water and I could have spent more time but we had to eat dinner.
Kathy slipped in to one of her unexplainable episodes.
In the evening, to relieve some of the tension, I suggested that we sing the song, "Happy Together." That led to an hour of sings any sone we thought we could sing from the 90's. At the end of mur jam session, I concluded that I need voice lessons.
12- F- NJ/PA
I went for a quick, delightful swim in the morning as the others sat around the pool because they didn't want to get wet. I will never understand how you can let a golden opportunity slip by without enough consideration.
Sally and Helen went off to Sally's home and I stoped at Hidden Sands Brewery in NJ and, of course, had four delicious beers. I took home a growler of a grapefruit IPA and I am going to add this beer to my favorite beer list.
13- SA- PA
After four nights without my cpap, I had a full night of crazy dreams.
I am dragging my tail today. Sally had a community party but I couldn't bring myself to go and I am a bit exhausted from hanging with people for the last 4 day, 24/7. I cant do that anymore. And I didn't want to drink as I have had too days of drinking this past week.
Barb had an impromptu HH party on the 4th floor balcony. I went up for some of it but it was too hot, too damn sunny, too loud and I was with a crowd where I am just on the fringe and so I was glad that they all went out to dinner without me.
14- SU- PA
It's another beautiful day. Some people are at the pool and Kristen tells me that the water is delightful. I may have to step in and feel for myself.
Almost 1200 people viewed my Wandering Through America site today. I have over 10,000 views for this month alone. Who are these people?
Twitter: We need a yearly National Day of Mourning for all of the people killed by gun violence in the USA. The flag should fly at half mask. Grieving site should be available to everyone. Names should be added to a registry and we need to publicly acknowledge this epidemic.#GunReformNow
15- M- PA
It's another beautiful day in my neighborhood.
I vomited again today. I think I need to consider going to see my gastro dr.
Mason invited me to watch his baseball game in NJ.
16- TU- PA
I finally got a report from Buzzotto and of course, they are being assholes.
I went to the movies to see Reins She was Hitler's propaganda film makers.
I passed up a brewery for an ice cream cone and the ice cream was too sweet. So this decision was a bust.
I spent the evening fighting with MAGA on Facebook and one man claims he doxxed me. I told him I had all of his personal information, ready to turn over to the poise if necessary and he has gone away.
Jaye texted me to tell me that she had to go back to the hospital for a fever.
17- W- PA
I set the alarm for 8 so that I could speak with Jaye. She sounded terrible. She is going to stay in the hospital for tonight and she hopes they can perform her procedure this afternoon.
I had another vomiting incident. Because I hadn't eaten yet, nothing came up but the involuntary spasms.
CS had an end of summer party. I was having fun and got up to grab a beer when Steve snagged me. He wanted to introduce me to a young woman. I shook her hand and was about to move on when Steve wanted to engage me in a conversation with her. I didn't want to have a conversation because I knew Steve would start on his usual comment that I am the most interesting person in the building. I just do not want to hear it. When he does this, I am so embarrassed. I feel as if I have to break in to some sort of monologue to prove his point. So I told them that I had to return to my table and then I was ashamed of my callousness to this young woman.
Jaye called from the hospital and is worried about our theatre tickets for Friday night. We cancelled.
Jimmy Kimmel got fired from his show because of his comment about the killer of Charlie Kirk. The orange idiot is behind this firing and the country is becoming even more divisive with this new ban on free speech.
Sharon called and we spent about an hour on the phone. It was nice to catch up with her.
18- TH- PA
I had a dream that I went bald but only as a reserve mohawk. And that strip of baldness was hard to cover up. I woke up a little bit in a panic.
I was able to exchange our theatre tickets. The Maggs are going in our place.
Leslie called me, filled with despair. We talked for an hour about our rage agains trump and all the damage he has done to the country.
In the afternoon, I drove to the Reading area to go to the Pagoda Brewery and had a delicious flight of beer.
19- F- PA
Jaye had her procedure today and it appears as if all is well. In the evening, I went to Penn Hospital and we sat for about 2 hours talking about trump, Dom the asshole, Jaye's new found religion, the guest bartender event nest week, Clarence's reality that the caner is going to take him soon, hospital care and the end of democracy as we know it.
20- SA- PA
Sharon, Glenn and I spent the late afternoon at Braeloch Brewery in Kennett Square
In the evening, I joined Kristen and her friend at the fire pit. Keith and his granddaughter joined us as well.
21- SU- PA
The Eagles played in the afternoon so I went to the lounge to watch with everyone. But no one was there. There was a food festival in town so people seemed to have wandered over there. But, Pete joined me in the lounge and we talked until the beginning of the 4th quarter. At that time, the score was an embarrassment. Pete said he was going to watch the game. I went up to my apartment as I did not want to see us lose. When I got to my balcony and I could hear the noise of the game coming out of every open window in the courtyard. So I looked up the score and we were now ahead by 1 point and there was only 2 minutes of play. I couldn't get the game on my phone soI decided to go downstairs and watch. But then I was afraid I would miss the end so I went back to my balcony and listened to the end. On the every last play, the other team had the ball. We got it from them and ran a touchdown and Philly went wild.
I texted Kristen and she was over the Square Bar so I joined her. It was crowded and people were dancing in the streets. Pete joined us and Carol strolled by and joined us. It was loud. The weather was beautiful. These are the moments that I love about West Chester.
I watched pieces of the Kirk memorial and it was frightening. It was an all day festival of hate for the left and admiration for Kirk, christians, republicans, MAGA, revenge and ill will. It had a creepy vibe.
22- M- PA
I got my money (cash) for my trip. I had to drive five miles to get to my new bank now that my local branch shut down. I may think about changing banks.
In breaking news, Jimmie Kimmel will be back on the air starting tomorrow night/
A group of us went to Uptown for the Monday Night Movie. We watched Jaws which is a film I have never seen even though it was released 50 years ago,
In an updated breaking news, ABC refuses to air Jimmie Kimmel. So I will find out tomorrow whether I get to see the show or not.
In other news, the rapture is coming tomorrow as well.
23- TU- PA
Sue and I went to the movies to see The History of Sound and it was excellent. I thought the theme would be much more joyful. But it was the story of two gay men who could never find their way to be life partners. It was yet another sad story of tow people who could not l've their authentic lives because of the pressures of society.
I posted something about censorship in the USA. Trump has mandated that all journalists covering the military now have to have their stories approved by the Department of Defense before it can be published. One of my former students responded and started with, "No offense bit..." and then became quite offensive. So I took his response and used his wording and changed the narrative. He responded that I was crazy and and stuck in a rabbit hole. I think our country is never going to get pass the damage trump has done to our country.
In the evening, Larry, Keith, Andy and I enjoyed a few beers together in the lounge.
Jimmie Kimmel is back on the air after 6 days of suspension He was kicked off for making comments about the Kirk murder. This move was yet another Trump effort at censorship. But the people rose up and cancelled all of their subscriptions to Disney and Hulu and other organizations that supported the censorship. The people have spoken.
And it appears as if the much anticipated rapture didn't happen today.
24- W- PA
The results are in and the Kimmel show had ratings through the roof last night.
I had my monthly facial and I am getting bored with this treat. So I scheduled a massage for next month. Let's see if that revitalizes me. I think much of the problem is that this has now become an obligation as opposed to a spontaneous moment of enjoyment. But I have to maintain a membership if I want the low price.
The whole world is talking about Trump's speech to the UN. He was supposed to talk for 15 minutes and he went on and on and on for about an hour and told the rest of the world leaders that they were losers and their countries are a mess. He was angry because the escalator stopped just as he got on and he thinks it was done to humiliate him. The teleprompter didn't work so that was another offense to him. He claims all the time that he doesn't need a teleprompter and today he was offended.
25- TH- PA/DE
It's Guest Bartender Day. Jaye's big fundraiser is tonight.
I woke up to a text from Andrea to tell me that Ironhill has closed effective immediately and now I have nowhere to go to get their delicious pumpkin ale, Russian Imperial ale, the Philly Favorite IPA and other beers that I liked so much.
The fundraiser was a huge success. Lots of people showed up. We made lots of money. I raised $1500+ and counting. Jaye told me she was overwhelmed with people's generosity and didn't know how to process it.
26- F- PA
I'm dragging my tail from all of the excitement of last night's event.
Jaye and I went to the theatre to see Mrs Doubtfire. It was hilarious.
27- SA- PA
Tricia came to WC to take me to lunch to celebrate my trip. She started the conversation by telling me we can’t talk about dom and trump as these two horrible men are sucking the air out of us. We lasted about an hour and we were on to trump.
I had plans to pack in the afternoon but I put it off and then it was time to check in with the others in the lounge to watch the PSU game. It started out so dull and it went in to double overtime. I drank one more beer than I should have and I stayed up later than I wanted and my packing wasn’t done. To make matters wireless, we lost the damn game.
28- SU- PA/NJ/Paris/Tunisia
I was up by 930 to finish my packing and grab a cup of coffee with the Maggs and then I took off for Newark to start my journey to Tunisia.
29- M- Tunisia
I arrived in Paris around 6AM and had a long, tiring 3 hour layover. I’m exhausted but I can’t nap and my eyes are burning. I can’t wait to get to my hotel.
30- TU- Tunisia
I am exhausted. After an hour wait through customs, I came through the exit door, looked for my driver and a friendly man charged towards me, called me by name, took my luggage and escorted me to a tax and I was on my way to my hotel where I collapsed in to bed and slept for the rest of the day. It was a great day.
