Utah

Utah
Spring 2009

I went to Utah during spring break.  I went with my niece who was a freshman in high school.  My sister didn't want her to sit around all week by herself so she asked if Lauren could join me.  When Lauren asked her mother what we were going to do in Utah, my sister answered, "whatever the hell Bridget wants to do."

And we did.  We started in Salt Lake City and drove through Park City and went swimming in a cave.  We snorkeled in some dirty, claustrophobic tunnels on a farm.  We went to Arches National Park and took a jeep ride up some of those steep rocks. We explored Moab.  I drove us six hours to see the salt flats which were still under water. And we went back to Salt Lake City and took a tour of the Moron church.

We had lots of fun together.

A Message from Heather

A MESSAGE FROM HEATHER

 to
I joined Facebook reluctantly.  I thought it was stupid and vain. I thought I would have nothing to post and that nothing from other people would interest me.  But I joined anyway and then two days later, I wake up to this message on my wall from Heather,  my niece:

"hello, my darling, dearest auntie!!!

And then I was hooked on the virtues of Facebook.

Barnagat Bay

Barnagat Bay
Long Beach Island, NJ
November 1, 2009

We had a freakishly warm day so Tilman and I grab the kayaks and hop in the bay.  The day was gorgeous. It is getting closer to 5PM and the sun will set too soon so I paddle over to Tilman and tell him we have to head back.

"Can we wait just a minutes?", he asks, "I want to stay in this moment just a little longer. And when I am having a bad day in February, I want to remember this day."

Bermuda- Christmas 2009

I went to Bermuda during Christmas break in 2009.  I thought I would snorkel, kayak, lay on the beach and drink beer.  It was 80F which I thought would be perfect weather fro all of these noble activities.  However, when I got to the island, everything, and I mean everything was shut down fro the season.  The residents were wearing jackets and complaining about the cold and the wind.  All water sports had come to a halt until the spring and most things were closed up tight until further notice.  I spent most of my time in Bermuda in the museum because there was nothing else to do.  Next time, I will go there in the spring or the fall but never again in the winter.
