Of course, I love the breweries. There are four of them within walking distance of my apartment. I often go there with a crowd from my apartment building.
My apartment building. I'm in a buidling that promotes community. There are 200 apartments and 300 people and there is a huge effort to get to know each others.
Sometimes I will go two or three days and not use my car.
I can walk somewhere for a drink and I don't have to worry about driving home.
It's the county seat which means there is so much going on politically. I've been to several policial rallies over the last few years. I've worked the polls at election times and I've attended town hall meetings.
I like being in a college town. While I thought there would be more interaction with the students, there is still a presence that lets me know they are there. It's nice to talk with them and listen to thier optimism.
Jake's Bar has been a mainstay here for 70 years. Its a corner bar that only holds 50 people in the most crowded moment. Beers are only $1 and you can order food at the pizza place next door and they will bring it over. We like to go in the afternoon and every day, we will see the workers on thier noon lunch break. Then the college kids come in to fuel up before tehy go to thier high end bars. And in the late afternoon, the day working creew come sin before tehy go home for dinner.
It a good location to stay connected to my siblings. Its a convneint drive to get to most of them.
I usher at the Uptown Theater and I have had some pretty good gigs there.
