My Father's Middle Name

December 31, 2023 

My father was a Federal Judge in Philadelphia, PA.  He died in 2005. Naturally, he was well known in the law community.  My friend, Cessie, followed his career because she worked for the largest law firm in Philly.

So it was a pleasnt surprise when I recently got this text from her:

I’m in the OC Acme today. There is a very tall guy in his late 50’s or early 60’s with a football shirt McGirr with the number 1.  I said I have to ask. “Are you related to the Judge?”  To which he replied “James McGirr Kelly?; no, it has been awhile since people asked but I hear he was a great guy.”   Had to share a message from your dad on my mother’s birthday.  We were blessed with good parents—not everyone gets that
