10 things About Nepal

 Ten Things about Nepal

2017

I spent 7 weeks in Nepal in November and December of 2017.  Here is what I observed:

Its very dusty there. Most of the roads are not paved and there is a ton of traffic so a lot of dust gets kicked up in the air and it is everywhere.

The beer is mediocre at best.

I saw the Living Goddess.  She is a young Hindu woman who holds this prestigious position until she has her first menstration. And then, she just goes back to being a regular citizen.

People come from all over the world and hike through thier mountains.  The primary industry in Katmandu is hiking. Every foreigner I met went on a hike, even a fat, old couple I met.

I went to Chitwan National Park and saw a beautiful Bengal tiger.

I got some sort of massage or spa treatment every weekend that I was there.

There was an abandoned hut right outside where I was staying.  Two women in the neighborhood dismantled that hut, brick by brick and stored all these new found bricks in their yard which was also a chicken coop.

The food was dreadful.  I was always hungry and I had to add two new holes in my belt while I was there.

Traffic is insane. Most people get around by scooter and there is no real rules of the road. Anything goes.

My first night there, on way home from the airport, we were in a minor car accident.  The two drivers got out and began to argue  The police intervened and dragged them both to the nearby police stattin.  There was a quick hearing and my driver won.  She was awarded $20 right away which she then took and had the car fixed the next day.

I was there during a national election. No one was allowed to drive or ride on a vehicle.  So everyone had to stay home that day and there was no excuse for not voting.
