10 Things About West Chester, PA

 10 Things

About West Chester, PA

I've lived here for 5 years now.  In 2017, I wanted to move to a small town, near Philly that was a county seat and near a university. That's West Chester. And so I moved here in June.

I live in an apartment building that focuses on building community. There are 300 of us in the building.

There is a homeless shelter diagonally across the street for my apartment building.  My place is the most expensive building in the bough and their place is the cheapest.

Much to my surprise, the college kids have very little effect on the downtown area.  They are in their apartments until about 10-11 PM and then they come out and roam the streets..  And I  am in my apartment building at that time so there are no negative consequences.  We see to cohabitant nicely.

There are about 60 restaurants near me. But I seem to have limited myself to just a few of them.

There are 4 breweries within walking distances of my apartment. I like three of them and I loathe the fourth one. There is another one just a short uber rode away.

I am a volunteer usher at my local theatre. I like this gig. I've had the opportunity to see Tom Rush, Rickie Lee Jones, Marc Cohen, Dave Mason, dance companies, gospel groups, comedy, plays, guest speakers, special topic discussions and TedTalks.

There are at least three  local parks within walking distance of my home.  One of them has outdoor concerts in the summer.  The other has a folk fest in June.

There is a professional bike race in August and I think that is my favorite event to watch.  There is an ammeter ice an a professional race.  When the professionals ride by, I can feel the wind of their speed.

I want a movie theatre and a produce store to open up shop in my little borough. That would complete this place for me.
