Staying Connected With Former Students #5

The beauty of Facebook for me has been the number of former students who have remained connected with me after so many years. This student graduated 15 years ago.

Him: Hi Dr. Kelly, I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know I had an interview at SHS today and I think it went really well. It's been a professional goal to end up there. Wish me luck!

Me: With whom did you meet?

Him: Dr. Hepp, Mrs. Conlin, and Mr. Mallon.

Me: Would you like me to contact Mr Mallon?

Him: That would be wonderful. I'd really appreciate it and I doubt that it would hurt my chances. Thank you.

Me: I’ll do it now. I don’t know the other two.

Him: Thank you very much, Dr Kelly

Me: Done.

Him: Thanks again!

Me: I told him that he could follow up with a phone call if necessary.

Him: I really really appreciate it. Thank you

Me: Ok, he got back to me already and agreed that your interview went really well. They have three candidates to interview next week. Hang tight.

Him: Thanks for the insider information!  I really appreciate you reaching out to him.

Me: I’m hopeful.

Him: It looks like they went with someone else. Thanks again for making the call. Maybe we'll bump into each other again sometime soon.

Me: Their loss!!!

Him: Thanks

Me: I’m disappointed. You would have been perfect.
