Random Beer Facts

SIX RANDOM FACTS ABOUT BEER

FROM SPIEGELAU

JULY 02, 2020

I am a beer kook and I am constantly tasting new beers, visiting brewereis whenever I can and reading about beers.  I just found these beer facts today.

1- WATER MAKES UP 90% OF BEER.

Who doesn't know that? How cares?

2- THE WORLD'S MOST ALCOHOLIC BEER HAS AN ABV OF 67.5%. It's called Snake Venom, brewed by the Scots.

OK, now I have to go to Scotland to find this beer. I would imagine that it tastes more like a whiskey than a beer and I am not a whiskey person.  BUT, I would be willing to fly from the USA to Scotland and try this beer just so I can see if I like it.

3- THE CZECH REPUBLIC CONSUMES THE MOST BEER PER CAPITA ANNUALLY.

I was on a ship in Antartica and there was a group from the CR and they drank more than all of us combined so this fact is not the least bit surprising. Those people can drink.

4- BEER WAS ILLEGAL IN ICELAND UNTIL 1989

While it may have been prohibited for years, the price is now prohibited. I cant drink more than one beer when i am in Iceland becasue I cant afford it.

5- THERE IS AN AUSTRIAN BREWERY THAT ALLOWS YOU TO SWIM IN A POOL OF BEER.

Gross, no thanks.

6- IN 2018, AUSTRALIA’S JAMES SQUIRES BREWERY CREATED A BEER USING YEAST FROM THE 1790S.

I will not go out of my way to fly to Austrialia to try this beer, I am going to bring this bit of infromation up for discussion when I chat up brew masters
