In 2014, I ran for state senate in Maryland.  I didn't make it but i enjoyed the ride. Here is a message from my website:

THE WAR ON DRUGS

While admirable in intention, the war of drugs has not achieved its goal and it is now time to change our focus on how we reduce the crime and addictions related to drug use and abuse.

To this end, I support:

• Eliminating any laws which criminalize the recreational use of marijuana. Recreational use should be legalized consistently throughout the country.
• Moving our focus away criminal enforcement and moving towards a primary focus of addressing the multiple issues related to drug addictions;
• Regulating the distribution and taxation of recreational drug use;
• Providing more safe havens for those people suffering from drug addictions;
• Re-evaluating the sentences of those individuals who are serving long term prison sentences for marijuana possession.
