Maryland

Maryland

When I was in college, my uncle owned a gentleman's farm in Maryland, along the Sassafras River.  Whenever I went there, I always wondered why anyone would want to live in this rural, isolated part of the world.

In 2006, I bought a house near Perryville, Maryland, a short drive near my uncle's former home. I bought this house because if it's location near the North East River.  I am a kayaker and this is a great river to paddle.  This was my second home until I moved there permanently in 2012 and then I sold the house in 2018.

My favorite place to eat was Woody's Crab House in North East, MD.

I loved to go to Baltimore for the afternoon as there were great places to eat and drink.

MD Crab Bisque is delicious.

I served on the Cecil County Library Foundation Board.

I ran for State Senate in 2014. I didn't win but I enjoyed the journey.

The North East River is so warm that I could swim in it form mid- May to mid-October.  During the summer months, I could swim in this river at night. As a matter of fact, my nephews would visit me at least once every summer and we would spend the entire night in the water.

The American Visual Arts Museum in Baltimore is one of my favorite museums in the world. I've visited this place several times and I always like to visit here. Most of the artwork is done by people with mental illnesses or are imprisoned or are at other levels of conflict.

There are some great breweries in MD.  I like Heavy Seas brewery and DuClaw's brewery the best.

It was  easy to pop in to DC for the day from my home.
