Best of 2021

 Best of 2021

Books, Movies, Songs, Podcasts, Plays

The pandemic still has a hold on us so there were some challenges to completing this list this year. The movie theaters have slowly opened up near me.  But live theatre continues to be a challenge.

Books

1- Wishful Drinking- Carrie Fischer- I have read a few of her autobiographies.  She was a talented woman who left us too soon.

2- Women & Power- Mary Beard

3- Marita, I Remember You- Sandra Cisneros- this was a sweet read.

4- The New Jim Crow-     - This book is ten years old.  The author offers sound solutions to problems that must be addressed.  But in ten years, it seems as if we have not moved on any of this issues.

5 Brene Brown

Movies

1- Elizabeth Is Missing- Please God, dont let me get Alzheimers Disease

2- The Trial of the Chicago 7-  sometimes our judical sysyten is too corrupt for words.

3- Nomand Land- the movie was entertaining but it didnt do justice to the important issues discussed in the book.

4- The Hunt for the Wilder People- this is a delightful movie.

5- Judas and the Messiah- this is a shining exampke of the dreadful efforts our judical sysytem will take to pursue their concept of justuce.

6- The Courier- One man is used to gather infromation from a Russian spy and thier loyality to each other is admirable.

7- The Father- OMG, by the time this movie was finished, I thought I had Alzheimers.

8- The Rescue- I went in to this movie, knowing the ending but I was still on the edge of my seat thorough out this movie.  It was riveting.

9- Found-  this is the story of the consequences of adoption.  Three Asian American girls try to find thier birth paretns in china.  They were given up for adoption at the start of the One Child Policy in China.

10- King Richard- I can't tell if this dad was kook or genuise but he purposely raised two outstanding athletes.
