September 2020
Still Stuck In The COVID Pandemic
But Losing Interest in Complying With the Mandates
PA/DE

1- TU- PA- I did nothing today.  I was a lazy ass.  KF called me at 10AM, while I was still in bed and that threw me off.  We talked until 11 and when I hung up, I felt as if I was ripped off of my last hour of sleep.  So I snuck back under the covers, put on my audiobook and closed my eyes.  When I finally got my sorry ass out of bed, it was 2 PM.

I got dressed and did a few things around the apartment.  But then I went back in to the bedroom and sat on the bed which I just knew was a mistake. I put my audio book back on and listened for another two hours.   I am loving my book.  The author just tells the story of his life in a raw, uncouth manner. His story isn't really interesting but he provides the detail that makes me feel as if I knew him.

Sue called and I did speak with her for awhile.  She is readjusting to her new life now that she is no longer a caretaker for her mother.  It was nice to chat with her.  This is the first time in years that I didn't hear any stress in her voice.  I also contacted Jaye and we are going to have dinner here in WC tomorrow.

I took out my Japanese siphon coffee maker and made myself a cup of coffee.  The process was so much easier this time and I think I am going to make an effort to make this coffee more often.  It is just so much smoother.

I tried to watch some movies on Amazon but I no longer have any interest or the attention span to watch something.  There is a movie I wanted to rent from BMFI but I had some internet problems.  So I will try tomorrow.

Today's tweet: Has anyone seen the Sec of Education? Did anyone tell her that our schools are in crisis. Has she offered any leadership, assistance, direction, $$$$? Where is she? Why isn't she stepping up? Isn't that her job?? #DeVosIsUseless

My last English conversation with this charming 21 yo. Anny lives in a small village in China. My eyes and heart were opened by her innocence and drive to learn. As her English mentor for the last 3 months, we discussed all sorts of topics... Swim lessons, Anne of Green Gables, garlic farming, chicken feet, no way could I learn Chinese, peanut picking, electric carts, Bombshell (the movie), how to pronounce 'usually'.... We, who live in the US, truly don't know how lucky we are. Thank you @bridgetekelly for the introduction to this program. Contact me if you are interested in participating. They are looking for women to mentor young women. #humbled #brushupon grammar #givingback #penpalsnow#messydeskdontcare#whowasaffectedmost?

I started the day with an hour long talk with Maaike from the Netherlands.  She is so interesting.

I finally was able to get rid of my Green Drop donations.  I had 4 bags of things to donate since March.  And, even with all that junk gone, I still, still, still have way too much stuff.

I had dinner with Jaye at Spence's Cafe. It's the first time I have been here even though it has been on my list as a place to try.  I liked it. I had the filet mignon and it was delicious.

I walked home from the restaurant and ran in to Debbie who was outside and smoking a cigarette.  So I sat with her for a few minutes.  And then I wandered home to my balcony where I soaked in the chill of the evening.

3- TH- PA
I started the day with an hour long meetings with Nadia and Jerrie.

I had plans to sit in front of Planned Parenthood and protest in support of them.  But the anti-protesters were not there so I decided not to make my statement.

I hit 25K followers on Linkedin.

4- F- PA

I picked up the Monteleons and we came here for an afternoon of swimming and dinner on Gay Street.
As soon as I dropped off the kids, I checked my facebook feed and discovered that Rob Nelson's son committed suicide.

5- SA- PA/NJ
I was slow to getting ready to head tot he beach.  I didnt leave Phill until 3PM.  WhenI got to Long Beach Island, Jane and John were still on the beach.

Deanna Jespersen texted me to tell me that Stephen Dolceamore was killed by a cop in a knee choke.

6- SU- NJ
Sue Descano called me to tell me that Dave Ash's daughter died in a freak boat accident.  She told me the news but I just couldn't comprehend what she was saying.  It was unreal.  And Sue sneezed that I didn't get it.

It was a gorgeous day.  It was a lazy day.  I wasted too much time and stumbled around my apartment.  I have nothing to show for my time.  And I have a lot of things I need to take care of.  But, of course, I did nothing.

I took a trip to Costco for some beverages and came back with 75 containers of something liquid.  I bought too much.

I called George Trout and Bob Preston tonight.  I wanted to check in with them to see how they are handling Hannah Ash's death.  Of course, they are devastated.

11- F- PA/DE

Shelia picked me up at 10:30 and we made our way down to Newark, DE to have lunch with Joann.  It was nice to see her after two years.

12- SA- PA

started planning my trip to Michigan.  I never realized who beautiful Michigan may be.  I am going to spend my time near the Upper Peninsula which is where three of the Great Lakes are: Michigan, Superior and Huron.

13- SU- PA
I took a sleeping aid and really had trouble waking up today.  I never quiet woke up.

I ran errands today and got a few things accomplished. If only I could be more productive in life.  I just procrastinate way too much. I am fighting Penn Medicine for charging me a double charge for a procedure I had on March 17.  They are treating to turn me over to a collection agency.  I had to go to the back to get my April 2020 statement to show the payment.  I was annoyed at myself because I couldn't figure out how to print this statement on my own.

I watched a movie that I had wanted to see in a movie theatre: Phantom Thread.  It was out last year and I missed it.  And I really didn't understand the jest of the characters but I don't feel like going back to the last half hour and reinvesting my time. I really have no attention span for watching movies off of my laptop.

15- TU- PA

I slept soundly until 11:30 AM.  That is so unusual.  I planned my day yesterday.  I was going to go to a beach in NJ, But by the time I dragged my ass out of bed, it got too late to take the two hour drive to the beach.  So I decided that I would drive in to the city and take photos of the occupied area of protesters near the art museum and then I would go to a brewery.  But then, all of the sudden, it was 3:45 and I would be driving in to rush hour traffic to accomplish this feat.  So then I decided to drive to the Union City Brewery, near Ephrata.  That was only an hour away.  I got there and the brewery was closed due to some restrictions with the COVID virus.  So I found St. Boniface Brewing Company and it was open, serving flights, offering food and WIFI.  Life is good.

Last March, I sat outside a brewery for the first time since the winter months.  It was 73F and lovely.  Today, I had the choice of sitting inside the brewery or outside.  I went inside.  It was 73F and too chilly for me.  I need to start carrying my fall weather clothing with me.  I am uncomfortable.

It was 57F by the time I got home.  That's too damn cold for September. I couldn't even sit on my balcony and have a beer.

I posted my 2000th blog post today. Now I have to find a place to get my blog out there to the world.

16- W- PA

I met Sue Descano for lunch in Media and it was a perfect day to sit outside all afternoon at a cafe.

I watched Radioactive, a movie on the life of Madame Currie.  She certainly was a woman before her time in so many ways.

17- TH- PA

I got a few things accomplished today and inertia was setting in which was a problem because I was supposed to meet Tricia and Lauren for an outdoor concert.  It was a huge effort not to talk myself in to skipping it.  And just as I decided to go, I looked at my calendar and saw that I had a zoom being with Jerrie and the other English language mentors.  I checked in to the meeting and left a little early and got to the concert which was nice.  And then I stopped by Walmart and bought things that I really down need.

Today's moral bottom of the Trump adminstration comes from his remarks about RBG's final wishes. “I don't know that she said that, or was that written out by Schiff and Schumer and Pelosi. I would be more inclined to the second. “ #BidenHarris2020

23- W- PA

It's Day 3 of Sharon's conference event and it was another home run. A woman spoke about careers.

Dinner with Kathy Flatley and her mother. As become the norm, our conversation slipped in to our distain for Trump. Mrs Flatley chimed in, "Oh don't bring that horrible name in to this house. Get his name out of my house."

Jane Momer cancelled our quick beach trip tomorrow. I am disappointed but I could use the time since I am h
sitting the road on Saturday.

24- TH- PA

We had another Great Dames conference and 8 people pitched their remarkable ideas. There are so real dreamers out there.

As I was getting readyto join our zoom meeting, Fonda Akins called me hysterically crying. I was so afraid that she was going to tell me that Kevin Williams died. Instead, she told me that Barbara Green died. And for some reason, I thought she had died a few years back.

I finally, finally, finally dropped my tax information off to an accounting office. Thank god. I hate, hate, hate doing my taxes.

I threw up tonight after three beers. Damn. It's been since January that I just randomly threw up. I've been nauseous but I haven't thrown up, until tonight. Damn. I was worn out fro the rest of the night.

I started the day with a Ridin' With Biden rally in West Chester, About 50 cars drove through town, honking our horns and cheering fro Biden, I loved and needed the energy.

I came home, finished my packing and headed out for my road trip to the Great Lakes, I drove 9 hours to Toledo and called it a day. I was tired.

Ladon couldn't take my call because she had a wild party to go to. I will try again tomorrow.

I had a flight of beer at the Maumee Bay Brewery so now I can write this off as my Ohio brewery visit.
drove around toledo. The whole town was empty.

By mid-afternoon, I headed north and after a long drive, made it to the bridge tot he Upper Pensiula to the Great Lakes in Michigan, where I caught my first glimpse of Lake Huron.

Several people gave me obscene gestures in response to my Biden/Harris sign on my back windows/

28- M- OH/MI

I got a text from Ladon. She cant talk to me again today because she has basketball. I love that she is so damn busy.

I crossed the bridge and got my first glimpse of Lake Michigan. It looks a lot like Lake Huron. I drove along Route 2 so I could see the sand dunes. . At one point, the police shut down all traffic as a back hoe was pulling something out of the banks fo the lake. When I got a closer look, it was a huge, dead moose. He must have stretched over 8 feet long

Brewery. It sat right on the lake and would probably would be a fun place in hang on a greatI didn't like anything about this brewery and I left in a bad mood.

Shamefully, I went to the chain restaurant, Big Boys, for dinner. I went for comfort food on this chilly, rainy night. I had a roast beef sandwich with mash potatoes and clam chowder. It was a perfect meal for this autumn night.
