Susanna is Starting Her Career
SIAS University
Henan Province, China
Spring 2014
It is so great to hear from all of these young women and read about the start of their careers. When I was in China, two years ago, none of them talked about the possibility of a job, let alone a professional career. Most of them thought they would return to their small villages or the family farm.
But their time in The World Academy for the Future of Women has prepared them to think and act as professionals. They have come a long way!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Bridget,
Good to hear from you!!! Sorry that I haven't got in touch with you for such a long time.
Even though I already finished my internship in Shanghai, and I've been far away from Sias camp and World Academy base, I am still busy in job hunting and getting driver license.
Since February in Shanghai, I did several interviews per month until now. I've got job offers in Shanghai, job offers in Beijing, in Zhengzhou, and now I'm thinking of a Guangzhou position. I elevated my expectation of my future job with every time's interviewers' confirm. Now, I encounter the best company I've ever seen, it holds a huge potential to grow up to be a leading company in the world, and it offers a great platform for employees to grow, its name is CVTE. The position I applied in CVTE named "overseas sales engineer", I did a four-round interview with CVTE last week, finally I got an internship offer from it yesterday. After this internship, we'll make our last decision to see if employee-employer fit for each other.
I would like to share with you this company's information. Its headquarter located in Guangzhou, so I may start my career there even though I said Beijing was my first choice when I was in Sias, I said Shanghai was my first choice when I was on my internship in Shanghai. CVTE started their company from TV main board products, it's said 80% LCD TV main boards in China designed or supplied by CVTE. More information, you may take a look at their website, it's English. ( www.cvte.cn )
Thanks to CVTE, I could stop my job hunting process for a while, and I am spending 2/3 month's daytime on driving lessons so that I could get my license before I graduate, it is a little bit intensive though cause it's Chinese license not American lol.
I will present a topic "internships" with one Academy facilitator, Andrea Conner, during the Women Symposium in May, to help Sias students learn more about internship benefit and other experience I could share. Also, I will summarize a list including the brief information over a dozen interviews I had as to contribute to World Academy database after I finish my entire job hunting process. For me, the job hunting experience is a good opportunity to learn about the economic trend and the industry insight, it covers hotel industry, consulting industry, financial industry, manufacture industry, education industry, etc. I can never learn them from the school classes, and I took all the key information during each one or two hours interview. So much to tell...
I'm growing up with all "World Academiers"'s support, with your initial inspiration. I feel grateful. By the way, I thought about you every time I heard of Johnny Depp's news, and I heard he planned to marry his young girlfriend, what's your feeling as his big fans?
Please allow me copy other World Academy relatives, I rarely got time to write to you all my dears. Also, how are you? ;)
Love,
Susanna
