Cruising 2020
Florida, Mexico, Honduras, Belize
February 1-8, 2020
Cruising is not the way I like to travel. But my niece hasn't traveled much so I thought a lovely trip to the Caribbean in the winter would be a great introduction to the joys of getting away. So off we went to Florida to pick up the ship in Miami. First we went to Cape Coral for a few days to hang with my friends. Then we took off for a fun week.
I wonder if she will still be speaking to me in 10 days when this trip is over.
Saturday- And so it begins. We boarded the boat and ran to our room and discovered that we were upgraded for some reason and we have a big ass balcony. It's the size of our room. And then we ran off to the mojito bar which was just steps from our cabin. They offered a mojito flight which was delicious and $20 and worth it. We shared the flight and vowed to come back for another at another date.
Sunday- At Sea- Lauren checked out the activities for the day and off we went for shopping lectures and facial workshops and pre-port tips.
Monday- Mexico- our first stop. We went shopping and bought too much junk.
Tuesday- Hondorus- we went snorkeling and the views were perfect.
Wednesday- Belize- we sat our asses on the beach all day. We rented a little cabana and we drank margeritas and we had a good lunch. We forgot to go in the water.
Thursday- At Sea- We had a port stop in Mexico but the high winds derailed that option. So we hung around the pool and later we went and got another mojito flight.
Friday- At Sea. We watch in amazement as people frantically buy all of junk that is for sale at the boat stores. I saw one man carrying three full bags of tee shirts, sunglasses, hand bags and other things that were of no interest to him and no bargain.
Saturday- the end of a great trip. I could not believe that 4000 people could be up and off that boat within an hour of reaching the port.
Facebook Post: Our week of gluttonous eating, self-indulgence, spas, napping in the sun, overconsumption, immediate gratification, a sea of guilty pleasures, and overspending has come to an end. The cruise is finished and we’ve put our winter coats back on and we will return to the cold. But yes, after 11 days of being together 24/7, she is still speaking to me.
I just weighed myself after a week of 24 hour buffets on the cruise and I’m happy to report that I didn’t gain too much. I think 3 weeks of steadfast fasting should do the trick of getting back to my pre- trip weight.
