The Last Supper

The Last Supper
Mangione's Restaurant
Valley Forage, PA
Spring 2009

OMG, we ate like big, fat, glutenous pigs.  It was disgraceful.  But it was the last supper so what would you expect?

KT was going to the hospital in the morning to prep for her gastric bypas surgery.  So this was going to be the last pig out dinner she was going to have for the rest of her life. And she made the best of that momnet.  She invited a dozen of us to join her at this Italian resturant that is all you can eat. And we fucking ate.

So much food was served that I was hyerventialing at one point.  Bowls and bowls of muscles were put in front of me.  I didn't bother to eat any of the pastas as they were too filling.  I had veal and chicken and lasgna and tairmusu cake and canollis and bread and calamari and capers and wedding soup and eggplant and every bite was delicoius for the first hour.

And then every bite after that hurt.  But that didnt stop KT or anyone else at the table.  We ate and ate and ate until our two hours were up and then we rolled on our sides and rolled out of the Last Supper and I have never eaten like that ever again. And I hope I never do.
