My Favorite Flower

MY FAVORITE FLOWER

From my garden
Carpenter's Point, MD
Every May

I wait all year for these beautiful flowers.  They sprout as a green stalk for weeks before they actually bloom. One day, there is nothing and the next day, they are there, in full bloom, bursting with color and pattens and beauty.  I take hundreds of photos of them every and every year. I compare last year's bloom to this year's bloom. And I look out my window every morning for about 10 days, marveling at this magnificent flower.  And then, one day, they are wilted and gone and I kick myself for not spending more time to honor this gift.
