The Big Cats
Serengeti National Park
Tanzania
February 2016
While on safari, I am thrilled to see any animal but when we stumble upon the big cats, a whole new feeling runs through me. I feel lucky and overwhelmed with joy. These creatures are magnificent and powerful. It is so easy to see why they are the kings of the jungle. So I stare in admiration. Then, every so slowly, a little bit of panic sets in. It dawns on me that these creatures could turn on me at any moment. They could bounce on me in a second and rip and chew my skin apart. They could devour me before I even had a chance to scream for help. And who would help me? We would all be in an hysterical panic, trying to survive, to get away, to come out alive from this horrific event.
Other than those floating neurotic moments of anxiety, being on safari is thrilling.
