Dear Folks- 1946

Dear Folks

A Letter from My Uncle to My Grandparents
Philadelphia, PA
May 12, 1946

My uncle shared a box of letters he had saved for years.  He let me go through them, which I did.  Then I scanned the gems.  There were letters my grandfather wrote to my grandmother who spent the summers in West Creek, NJ.  He stayed up in Philadelphia and ran his medical practice.  He wrote to his sister and his sons wrote to him.  This is a lost art.

My mother's mother wrote personal letters to friends every day.  She had friends for 70 years. She used to write to my mother even though they talks on the phone on a regular basis.  Towards the end of her life, she dreaded some of this letters.  When she visited us from Florida during the summer, each letter listed friend and acquaintances who didd during her absence.

I dont remember the last time I sent anyone a letter.
