Trump has brought the Natonal Guard in to DC and he is turing this country in to a police state which is so dangerous to our democracy:
It is the Erosion of Civil Liberties – A militarized response to political dissent threatens freedom of speech, assembly, and protest. When citizens fear soldiers in the streets, democracy suffers.
It Normalizes Military Force in Civilian Life – The National Guard is meant for emergencies, not as a standing police force. Using them for political control blurs the line between military and civilian governance, setting a precedent for future leaders to do the same.
It Intimidates of Citizens – A show of military force in the nation’s capital isn’t about safety; it’s about control. It discourages people from exercising their rights, replacing civic participation with fear.
It Undermines Civilian Institutions – Civilian law enforcement and the courts are designed to handle protests and unrest. By bypassing them, Trump signals distrust in democratic institutions and replaces them with raw military power.
It Becomes the Pathway to Authoritarian Rule – History shows that leaders who use the military against their own people consolidate power, silence opposition, and weaken checks and balances. Allowing this unchecked could tip the U.S. toward authoritarianism.
