Sorry I’ve been out of touch but I’ve been through the wringer, plus some. I was diagnosed with skin cancer in February. I’ve head 5 rounds of immunotherapy.  On July 18th I was admitted to Huntsville Hospital due to a 47 blood sugar, normal is between 90 and 140 for me. The  problem was no appetite and believe me I’ve tried to eat, nothing taste good. That caused fatigue and weakness so off to rehab I go on July 29th to toughen up. 

Everything was going well until I got a nasty parasite that threw me for a loop. Got some strong antibiotics which helped tremendously. 

Until 9:45pm when I woke up screaming with a ruptured ulcer, off to the emergency room at HH for surgery leaving two nasty scars (no more bikini for me!), severe low blood pressure issues and a long visit in Medical ICU…. Oh my! 🥴 

At least I have my appetite back, but now am lactose intolerant at least for now. But they’re keeping me on a liquid only diet, ack! 

I did get some good news. I don’t need  steroids, so I won’t look like Popeye! In fact I’ve lost 25 pounds.  

What a topsy turvy journey!!! Ugh!🤕

 I went on Facebook to check on my friend, Libby.  In late August, she had posted a dreadful photo of her in a hospital bed.  She was unrecognizable to me. I checked in with her and she has had terrible health problems but she indicated to me that she was on the upswing.  When I looked tonight, I discovered that she died on the day I left for Greenland. 

This is upsetting news as she was so full of life. We traveled together through Northern Europe in the spring of 2013.  She was great fun and so much a part of that trip. There is a little less joy in the world without her.
