Road Trip 2023 #9

Road Trip 2023 #9

CO/UT

July 11- 18, 2023

  • I visited with KT which I have been doing for the last 12 summers.
  • The first night we were on the Colorado River in a rustic cabin.  The cabin was nice but the mosquitos were the size of flies.  And there was no restaurant within 40 miles of th place.  So we were a bit hungry and miserable.
  • We had every intention of staying in Moab for a few days. But we were greatly disappointed when we drove through town.  It's become so commercial and expensive. a
  • We moved on  to the nearby town of  Montecello to find some sights of interest.  There wasn't much to see but it was cheaper to stay there.
  • Canyonland National Park was almost empty.  We saw so few people.
  • We visited four breweries.
  • I got in a quick visit with my nephew, a runner,  who was in Denver this summer to train at high altitude.
  • We visited Black Mountain Park and I loved it.  I have been here before but I don't remember seeing this place.
  • One night, we had dinner with all of KT's family, even her ex-husband.
  • We went to the Olympic Museum which was excellent.
