10 Things About My Trip to Antigua

10 Things About My Trip to Antigua

Jolly Beach Resort

St Johns, Antigua

January 20-26, 2023

I went here for just six days.  Initially, I thought that would be enough time and I would be ready to come home.  But I was wrong and I am sorry I didn't stay for at least two weeks.

I stayed at a resort that was shut down for 4 years and had just reopened.  So they were only at about 25% capacity.

My flight and the hotel cost me $1300 and it was all inclusive. That was a great deal.

The resort was clean.  The service was excellent. The food was good and there were no lines to get in to the restaurants.

The beach was beautiful. The sand was snowy white and the water was shades of blue and when the sun hit the water, it glistened and looked like diamonds.

Unlike so many other resort, this place had plenty of lounge chairs and shade spots on the beach.  There were a few large rafts anchored in the water and people just longed on them all day long.

I swam in the water in January.  That is always a thrill for  me.

I did nothing the entire time I was there.  I had every intention of going snorkeling and taking an island tour and a sailing trip.  But the beach was so damn pleasant that I just laid on my lounge chair and did noting.  I did bring a book to read and a few audio books and some podcasts.  But I didn't even have the engird to do those things.  I think I didn't even think while I laid there like a beached whale.

Some man gave me an African head massage on the beach.  He  massaged my head and my face and my hands. OMG, I loved it.  The day before, I also went to the spa and had a facial and a body scrub. After that, I barely made it back to my room to take a nap.

I didn't wear underwear the whole time there.  I just wore my bathing suit and sweats.
