Road Trip- #2021-1

Road Trip- #2021-1
PA, DE, MD, DC, VA, NC, SC, GA, FL
February 7-21, 2021

I left PA around noon and drove for 8 hours on the first day. I made it to NC and found a hotel for the night.

In SC, I went to the Southern Hops Brewery in Florence for lunch and then headed down to Orlando and found a hotel.

I visited with Jaye and Dom Pedante in Cape Coral for five days.

Breweries in FL-  Big Storm Brewery and 8 Feet Brewery.  I liked them both.

Weather in Cape Coral- fucking great: sunny, blue skies, warm and comforting.

We just floated in the pool all afternoon and in the early evening, we lingered in the hot tub.

My good friend, Tom Descano, died on Sunday.

For our final night together, we went to Two Meatball Restaurant- OMG, it was delicious.  I had the veal piccata.

We watched a lot of episodes of Modern Family which is Jaye's favorite TV show. Personally, my life would still be complete if I never saw antlers episode of this show again.

We went to see The News of the World with Tom Hanks and while I was so damn happy to be back in the threaders, this movie was not that great.

I drove two hours north to Clearwater to stay with Jane and John Bambach for a few days.

It was much colder there than in Cape Coral and they haven't been in their pool or hot tub which was a disappointment to me.

They had a new puppy who was a pain in the ass and kept biting them and breaking flesh so they were frequently looking for band-aids.

We strolled around the Florida Botanical Gardens and it was lovely.

Jaye called me to tell me that her son in law died in a terrible car accident.

We found a delicious tapas restaurant and overate at this place. I ordered a black beer and the owner was very worried because she didnt think it was cold enough.  I tried to explain to her that dark beer should really be served at room temperature.  But she was very uncomfortable with my position and it took me three or four attempts to get her to serve me the beer.

I headed home and had every intention of spending at least the night and maybe an extra day in Savanah, GE.  But when I got there, I didn't like the vibes and so I just drove up further north for another hour and found a hotel.

Savanah was under lots of street construction so traffic was a mess.  The hotel I booked had little parking so I wasn't going to have access to my car.  the streets were crowded with people and no one was wearing a mask.  So I didn't feel safe wandering around there in the middle fo a pandemic. And it was raining.  So I canceled my hotel reservation and moved on.

I stopped at the Coastal Empire Beer Company in GA for a flight of beer. The beers were delicious and I wish I could have had more time here.

I stopped at the Fainting Goat Brewery in NC for a flight.

I bought brown cowboy boots in NC. i have wanted cowboy boots for years and never bought them.

I drove about 2400 miles round trip.
