I have a few names:

Dr Kelly- my professional name.  I have a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and this is how my students and teachers and parents referred to me.

DK- but many of the faculty and students referred to me as DK when they were speaking of me to each other.  Sometimes the faculty called me DK publicly as well.  And that was OK.

Miss Guidance- I started out in education as a high school guidance counselor and some of the students called me Miss Guidance which I thought was hysterical.  My supervisor did not think it was appropriate.

Scar-  there are three Bridgets in my apartment building.  One young resident was trying to distinguish me from the others.  I had just had my gall bladder out and had shown her my scar so she and her parents and others started calling me SCAR, which I thought was funny.

Long Nv- Dragon Lady.  It's my Chinese name I use when I teach in China from time to time.  I was there during the year of the Dragon.

BK- I have two friends, KF and HD and for some reason, we refer to each other by our initials.

Kel- for some reason, Irish last names are often reduced to the first three letters of the name and so I am called Kel from time to time.
