1966

1966

Woodbine Avenue
Overbrook
Philadelphia, PA

My age: 10-11

School- Our Lady of Lourdes Grade School.  Sister Francis Clare (AKA Franny Clare) is my 6th grade teacher.  She was a fat, roly-poly penguin who could yell at us with a volume that was scary. School was such drudgery.

Music- I listened to:
  • The Mamas and the Papas
  • The Beatles
  • The Monkees
  • The Beach Boys
  • The Rolling Stones
  • Simon and Garfunkel
  • The Troggs
Movies
  • Dr. Zhivago - I was too young to see this movie and  I haven't seen it yet.
  • Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? - I never saw this iconic movie as well.
  • A Man for All Seasons
  • The Singing Nun- we also had the album
  • Batman- this movie was action packed with wholesome patriotic themes.
  • Born Free- I thought this was a beautiful movie.

Books- reading was a real struggle for me.  I was reading Ramona, Nancy Drew mysteries, Mad Magazine and comic books.

Travels- I think this was the summer my father was very sick with Hepatitis and so we stayed home while he tried to get better and keep his law practice up and running.
