The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

I ended  our trip through Arizona with a visit to  the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. We started our trip on June 5, my grandfather’s (PFC John B. Revie, US Army and an immigrant) birthday. At 17, he took his brother’s birth certificate and joined the army. Within the year and before his 18th bday, he was wounded and later earned a Purple Heart and a Silver Star for bravery. He was born in 1900; 100 years later in 2000, Clay’s brother, Gus Kelly was born and he just joined the army on June 5. Gus has been on my mind all week long as I worry about him suffering through basic training. I know I have to let it go. And in an effort to cope, I did what I do best: I took a road trip. And I brought Clay along and we had a great time.
