September 2017
West Chester, PA
September 1-West Chester, PA -spent the day doing absolutely nothing but waiting for dinner with Deb Green. Then at the last minute she canceled, and my day was lost.
September 2- West Chester, PA - lunch with Deb Green at the Boxcar Brewery. Party at Jay’s house in the evening. I attempted to run errands today, but everything was closed for the holiday weekend.
September 3- Bryn Mawr- dinner at an Indian restaurant with Jimmy, Joanne, Bill and Trisha.
September 4- Springfield, PA - drinks with my Morton students. They are women now. They are graduated from college and beginning their careers. I never thought I would see this day.
September 5- Philadelphia, PA- Took Bill McRae out on the first day of school to celebrate his retirement. Sue Descano joined us. We spent the afternoon in breweries. I don't think he misses teaching.
September 6-West Chester, PA -another day slipped away. It’s getting dark too early.
September 7- West Chester PA- went to the Amish market and had a discussion with an Amish woman about medical marijuana. I think she did not know what I was talking about.
September 8-West Chester. PA- ran into Marianna Curran as I roamed the streets, looking for an ATM machine. We went and had a drink. I love Westchester.
September 9-West Chester, New York- Kevin and Emily got married. The wedding and reception were great fun. And I wish we could do this day over and over and over.
September 10- West Chester, New York- there was a big wedding brunch at the Stoudts’ house. Kathy thought 20 people would come and 80 of us showed us and spent the day. The newlyweds stopped by and we’re all excited to see them.
September 11- Carpenters Point, MD- yet another library meeting and then drinks with Amanda at the Irish pub in Elkton.
September 12-West Chester, PA- had a great iMovie class at the Apple store. I want to start making movies. I put up a notice on Facebook, asking for Diva cups. I want to bring them to Kathmandu with me in November.
September 13-West Chester, PA- I had lunch at the Split Rail Tavern with Jay and Dawn. They left too early. They ate and ran.
September 14- West Chester, PA- had an interview at Safe Harbor Homeless Shelter to do volunteer work with them. Our investment club made $8000 this month. I went to the movies to see A Trip to Spain. I didn’t get it. I wouldn’t recommend it.
September 15- Carpenters Point, MD- yet another library meeting. It seems as if we are meeting more than once a week now. Later I had drinks with Joanne and Dom.
September 16- Carpenters Point, MD- spent the afternoon cleaning the house, but I really didn’t put much effort into it. In the evening I hung with Joanne and Dom we watched a movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. We all loved it. I spent the night at my house (this would be the last time I spent the night here).
September 17- Carpenters Point, MD- after much prodding and nagging from Joanne, we went kayaking for a few hours. Satya joined us, and it was great to be back in the water. It was such a beautiful day.
September 18- Bryn Mawr, PA- went to dinner and then the movies with my high school friends. We saw Tomorrow, an inspirational film about saving the planet.
September 19-West Chester, PA- I spent the day at the DMV, a dreadful way to spend the day. I now have a PA license again and I can vote here in November.
September 20- West Chester, PA-spent the afternoon birding at Rose Tree Park. Didn’t see anything spectacular but I enjoyed the company. I followed that up with a happy hour in my apartment building. I’m starting to meet new friends.
September 21- Carpenters Point. MD- yet another library meeting. Will our work ever be finished? I checked in on the house. It’s still there.
September 22- Stroudsburg, PA- went to see David Bromberg at the Sheraton Theatre with the Frantzs. He is no longer the young, entertaining singer he once was. He's an old grandfather. And his new songs don't hold my interest. Afterwards we wandered over to Yards Pub and drink beers.
September 23- Stroudsburg, PA- spent the day hanging with the Frantzs and Jim’s old, tired, sad mother. I hope I don’t last too long.
September 24- Philadelphia, PA- went to the movies with Sharon to see The Viceroy’s House. This is the story of India’s bloody separation from England. The whole transition was fucked up and thoughtless. The movie left me rattled and angry at our seemingly consistent events that screw innocent people.
September 25-Philadelphia, PA- I had dinner with Rosina and Leslie at the Moshulu Restaurant. What the fun time to sit out on that upper deck as the sun is setting. Leslie got us a tour of the entire boat. We wandered around the guts of this old ship.
September 26-Seattle, WA- heading out to Seattle for the week to meet Elliott, my grandnephew. I cant wait and I am overwhelmed to think that Heather is now a mother. She is just a kid to me, even though she is 33 years old.
September 27- Seattle, WA- Heather and I took Elliot out for a stroll and lunch. That was our big excitement of the day. For the rest of the day, we just stared at Elliot and took photos of him. I have about 30 of them just today.
September 28-Seattle, WA- when Steve got home from work, the three of us and the baby piled into a car and went to Stoup Brewery.
September 29- Seattle, WA- because it was Friday, there was no urge to go home early, so tonight we took Elliot to two breweries: Reagan’s and Peddlers brewery. It was a perfect night to sit outside and drink beer with good company.
