I am sitting in the Darwin airport, reading all the post about the east coast freeze and worrying about my pipes at home while I am waiting to hear if my flight is going, pending the category 5 cyclone coming this way, hoping to get to Alice Springs where it is going to hit 106F today. Weather forecast for everyone in the world: Extreme.

Bridget E Kelly Well I made it to Alice Springs. I checked potential quick flights back to the USA in case my pipes burst and it will take several days to get there so I have to let go of my worries and just live with the consequences. Now I am in need of a hydration product. Even though it is only 10AM, a beer is in order. And I have caught my first glimpse of the Outback and it is massive.
