Jacmel, Haiti
Summer 2013
She lost everything in the 2010
earthquake. So, like most of her neighbors, she was forced to live in a tent. I
am told that the tent city was dirty, violent and sad. There wasn’t enough food or water. There was a lot of illness. But mostly there was deep grief from so much
loss of loved ones.
After three years, Adeline
was able to rebuild her one room house and she was so proud of herself. Now, she is working for us this summer and is
making $5/day and she can’t believe her good fortune. So, she asks us to pose
with her, in front of her humble home, to celebrate her prosperity.
