Mourning For Hillary

Mourning for Hillary
November 8, 2016
USA

This past presidential election was a tremendous blow to me.  After a year of campaigning for Hillary, I was filled with so much optimism. I was thrilled to see a woman finally, finally, finally elected to the highest position in the country.  It was going to be so comforting to see her sworn in to that office.  But that was just one reason I wanted her to win.  I was  and continue to be impressed with her position on so many important issues:

Women and children- unless we take care of women and children, our poverty levels will continue to soar.  In the 1970s, we had 10 million people living in poverty.  We now have 50 million people in poverty.  We can not let theses numbers grow any more and we have concrete solutions we could implement now to reduce those dreadful numbers.

Planned Parenthood- a woman must have a right to choice her own healthcare decisions.

My health insurance- It wasnt until I needed to buy my own health insurance that I understand what a closed system the insurance companies operated.  I was denied coverage because of minor health issues.

A female president- We need a place at the table.  We need to break the ceiling.

Strong relationships with the rest of the world- We have to maintain our relationships with NATO and the UN. We live in a global economy and we have to be a team if we are going to succeed.

The respect of the world- the world laughed at us during the primary and now they are worried.  And rightfully so.

An appreciation of diversity- our country is changing dramatically. At the moment, today's kindergarten class is now 51% children of color.  We need a leader who embraces this diversity.

Marriage Equality - The gay issue is finished.  We need to more forward and afford everyone equal opportunities.

Climate issues and solutions- we are villain in our care for the Earth and we need someone who reasons with science, not hunches.
