I don't know why I decided to walk a part of the Camino de Santiago. I hate to hike, it's unpleasant and tiring. But I loved the moments when I found a place to sty for the night and I gathered with the other hikers and talked about our journey. Most of the hikers wanted to brag about how far they hiked that day. I always avoided that question as my hike never exceeded ten miles and the last few kilometers of the day's goals were completed by taxi. This act would have been considered a sacrilege amongst the hikers. For me, it was one small step to survive.
