I walked into the liquor
store which boasts over a thousand varieties of fine wines from all over the
world. I don’t ask for help because I’m embarrassed by what I want. I try to
find my wine on my own but I can’t.
The store clerk sees me
circling the aisles and comes up to me, ” Miss, can I help you find something?”
in a tone so helpful that I surrender and tell him what I want.
“I’m a little embarrassed
with all this fine wine” I tell him, “but I am looking for Riunite. Do you even carry that wine here?” I ask.
He makes a jester by kissing his fingers answers
to me with an Italian accent,” ah, Riunite, the Italian Coca-Cola”. He laughs and takes me to a section the back
of the store. Bottles of Riunite sit
with a large selection of other bottles of cheap wine.
“If I may redeem myself”, I tell the clerk, “ I am going to take this
wine and make popsicles.”
His face lights up and now he
sees me as genius. "What a fantastic
idea. Enjoy!”
I leave the store with just a
moment of believing that I won his admiration.
