Making Progress

Making Progress

Tibet
June 1999

When I came home from Tibet, my friend, Bob, commented on the lack of progress Tibet has made as compared to the rest of the world. In the 200 years since the birth of this country, we have advanced 100 fold on the discoveries of technology while Tibetans still use very primitive hand tools that have been around for centuries.  But that is not the only difference between our two countries. Unlike Americans, I never heard a harsh, angry word from any of the Tibetans. They spoke to us graciously and unhurriedly. They displayed a genuine interest and delight in us.  So I really wonder who is making more progress in the advancement of humanity.
