A Letter From A Former Chinese Student

January 2021

 Dear Bridget,

How are you? I am so grateful and inspired to write this letter to you.   I just finished my first year working in the WAFW as Jerrie’s administrative assistant, and beginning my second year as Jerrie's Executive Assistant.   Jerrie and I did a long debrief on what did I achieved for the past year.  Jerrie has asked me to think about the facilitators who have been taught in my life that have impacted me a lot, in terms of skills and other important influence.   You are one of them that I immediately have in my mind.  You are my facilitator in the WAFW when I was a freshman in 2015.  (Very fundamental year for me to know the world).   Thank you so much for being my facilitator with your generosity.

I remembered that in your coaching class, you taught us how to shake hands powerful, how to set up LinkedIn account.   At right that moment, I found that it’s such a precious skill as a leader that I need to develop proofeessionally.  From that moment, I swear that I am going to act professionally, because I feel the power.  What you have taught, it’s way beyond the knowledge itself, but the power it has created on me.   It reminds me of those beautiful moments when you were at Sias.  I will never forget.  It’s all in my life now.

As you know, It’s been a challenging year with a lot of pressure because of COVID.  Facilitators who are from outside China couldn’t enter China.  Even Jerrie, has missed the presence of being with Academy members.  We’ve done several online classes.  The online curriculum outcomes are decreasing through Academy members’ interactions, eye contact.  You know it’s absolutely not the way that we wanted to create the Academy.  It reminds me of again how precious and lucky I am to have so many onsite facilitators to build my global view and widen my vision to look at the world.  Alumni supported members by doing 2 days workshops for members during the weekends. What they’ve mentioned and impacted a lot are those wonderful and familiar facilitators that I’ve known.  They are using what they’ve learned from you to inspire current Academy members.  Also, we have mentors who are from all over the world to mentor twice a week with each member during this year.  We just miss on-site and witness the relationship building.  Thank you for your continued contributions as a mentor to support the Academy, dear Bridget.

I wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you at Sias with Jerrie when the pandemic ends.

Attached some pictures, including me and the symposium this year.  (smiling) I couldn’t recognise myself when I reviewed what did I look like when I was the first year member.

Sincerely and best regards,

Jessie
