  Get several cans of spray paint before you get to Cadillac Ranch (just west of Amarillo). Spray painting the cars is part of the experience! 

  Also, a great place to spend the night is the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook, AZ (Have you slept in a wigwam lately?). Great petrified wood display in the room beyond the front desk and several cars featured in Cars.
