Favorite Autobiographies
David Sedaris- I have read every book (18) he has published and I am still excited to read more. I started reading his works with his story about being a Christmas Elf for Macy's (Holiday on Ice). I listened to him tell that story many times and it never gets old.
Patti Smith-Just Kids-she has written three books and I liked all three of them. She writes with a simplicity and a modesty that only adds to the intrigue of her extraordinary life experiences.
Neil Young- Waging Heavy Peace- It took me awhile to get used to his writing style. He's a bit sloppy but once I got his rhyme, he had a good story to tell. There is a follow up book and I will probably read that book as well.
Carrie Fischer- The Princess Diarist- I read this book right before she died and immediately regretted that I hadn't followed her career my whole life. She was quite a woman.
Joan Didion- The Year of Magical Thinking- It took me a few chapters before I realized this was her story. I couldn't put it down and want to read it again.
