Women's Rights are Being Erased
Right Before Our Eyes
PA, OH, DE, NJ

I have six hours and fifteen minutes of driving before I get home. I'm leaving at 10:30 AM. I wonder how long this drive will take today.
About two hours in to my trip, I stopped at The Washington Brewery-(1)- PA in Washington County. I had a quick flight of uninteresting beers.
The ride home today is much, much greener than just 6 days ago. We aren't quiet in full bloom but we are close to it.
Around the Pittsburgh area, it got insanely foggy. It almost felt as if I was driving through clouds. For a moment, I looked for a safe place to pull over as the visibility was so poor and then the fog just lifted and I was able to continue.
I pulled in to my parking lot around 8 PM. I was tired. And on the way up to my apartment, I stopped to pick up a package at the congierre's desk. To my surprise, one of my neighbors left me a six pack of beer as a thanks for giving her a trash picked bug screen for her balcony. I think I made out pretty good on that deal.

I woke up refreshed and ready to face the day at 11AM this morning. If only I didn't crawl back in bed for "just 10 minutes". I feel back in to a deep, deep sleep and didn't wake up until 1:30 PM.
The afternoon was spent on running errands. And then I came home and sat on my balcony and drank beer. It was a lovely way to spend the early evening.
Clay and I texted back and forth and he is considering a trip to Colorado this summer. I wanted to call him and laugh in his face as he really can't go to CO unless I take him. He wants to train at high altitude as a way to improve his running times.
KT called me to tell me that she may have to postpone her upcoming trip to England. Mark has covid. Of course, she is really disappointed.
I spoke with Sally and she wants me to join a group of friends on a trip to Ireland. I am not really interested in the trip but I need to get off my ass and get traveling abroad again. This trip is easy, inexpensive and would be fun so I am considering it.
A document from the SCOTUS was leaked and the Court is going to overturn Roe v Wade. Fuck them.

I had another one of my reoccurring work dreams. another
There was a call on social media to meet at our county court houses today at 5 PM to protest the SCOTUS. So I went. There was a small crowd but it was a presence nonetheless. And after 45 minutes, we went to the Split Rail for a beer. It was nice to have the company of apartment people who drink beer.

I had another difficult reoccurring dream about work. This time I was asked to come back as a temporary principal of the middle school. When I got there, the job was actually an assistant principal job, working under one of my nemesis. I wonder why I have so many of these dreams.
It was a cloudy afternoon, just perfect for a movie. I tried to get Kathy or Leslie to join me but both were busy so I went by myself and saw The Duke with Helen Mere. It was a fun movie. The underdogs challenged the government.
I finished my book, The Lincoln Highway. I continue to marvel at how someone can think up a ridiculous book with a ridiculous story line and the book becomes a best seller. And the book took 18 hours to listen to it.
I wasted the night. I thought I would take a quick nap and five hours later, I woke up, unaware of the fact that it was now midnight. This behavior disappoints me. I waste so much of my time.

I was going to take a drive to Montgomery County to try out a new brewery. But I don't feel like it. I think today is going to be the day I start on my OCD Summer 2022 garden.
OK, so I just got back from the store and I didn't do too badly. I got 3 geraniums and 8 marigolds. They are all planted and really to grow until October.
I got a text from a woman in the building. She was having a spontaneous Cinque du Mayo celebration in her apartment. So I went up to the 4th floor and joined her and four other people. It was fun and this is just the sort of thing that I like about this place.
There have been over 995,000 Covid deaths in the USA since March 2020.

I had another reoccurring work dream. This time I had to drive the school bus home from a field trip. These dreams unnerve me.
Sharon sent me a text. Her chemotherapy port was removed today. That is a big cause for celebration.
It rained all day. And it was a bit chilly. And now, my new plants are saturated. But all of the pollen has been washed off of my car.
I drove to Norristown and went to the Von C Brewery- (2)- PA. There was a limited beer menu but I found 4 IPAs. I liked two of them and the other two were just OK. I thought they were too expensive. I paid $4 for a 5 ounce pour. That would be $12 for about a pint. That's too much.
As I pulled in to my parking garage, I caught a woman dressing herself in the corner. The door is broken so anyone can walk in from the street. I don't know if she was just adjusting herself or if she had spent the day there to get out of the rain.
I looked at my cumulative brewery list the other day. I thought I had visited about 290 breweries. Actually, it is more like 315 breweries to date. Now I am in a bit of a quandary. I was going to retire my quest to visit as many breweries as possible once I reached 300 breweries. Now I am beyond that number but I am not ready to surrender my quest. Maybe I should set the goal to 400 breweries. I should reach that goal in a year or two.

It's pouring down gallons of water today. It rained all day yesterday but this day is even worse. It's cold and windy and really wet. And I had to pull out a winter coat because it was so damn cold.
I met Sharon and Glenn at the Ironhill Restaurant for dinner at 5PM. They had tickets to the Tom Rush Show at Uptown at 7 and I was ushering. So we met and service was so bad that I had to pack my dinner and run to the theatre to get to my assignment. Fortunately, my flight of beer was delicious.
Anyway, Tom Rush was great. He's 81 but still has a full head of hair and most of the range of his voice. The crowd loved him and he responded accordingly. This was a fun concert.
The crazy ass republicans are now shouting out that they want to get rid of all birth control. They have become unhinged.

It's Mother's Day, a day where people try to make me feels as if somehow I am a mother so that I don't feel so bad about being childless and really I don't give a damn about this day.
I went to Walmart and bought 11 damn plants. They are all planted and hanging on my balcony. Now, I would love it if that is the end of my plant buying for the season.
I had another reoccurring work dream. This time I was assigned to an Evangelical school and had to partake in one prayer session after another. This dream gave me a headache.
In the evening, I ushered at Uptown. There was a five-peice Bluegrass Band performing. We had 6 ushers and 35 guests. The crowd size was pathetic but the performers did not let this deter thier performance. And though small, the audience was enthusiastic. It was another fun night at this gem of a theatre.
Facebook Post: My mother. She was a strong-willed woman who knew how to embrace life to its fullest. On her death bed, she was bossing me around and I asked her, "When are you going to stop bossing me around?" She got up on her boney elbows and laughed at me and said, "Until the first one of us takes her last breath." OMG, I thought her response was so funny.

Twenty-four years ago, my mom died. She had just turned 71. That age seemed so far away from me and now it is right around the corner. How did that happen?
It's Jimmy's birthday. He is 68. That's fucking old and I am right behind him.
I went to Carlino's and ordered my desserts for Deirdre's baby shower on Saturday. I also picked up two desserts for Rosina and then I got me something that was crispy, flaky and delicious. And I sat in my car, taking up a coveted parking spot and ate that delicious piece of edible artwork and felt no shame.
Then I went out and bought flower seeds for my garden. I never plant seedseeds. But someone gave me some seeds on Earth Day and I planted them and they are blooming. So now, I am filled with optimism. I purchased 8 damn packages.
In the evening, I made my way in to Philly to have dinner with Rosina and her beau. She has been with this guy for six years. He lives in Tunisia and she lives in the USA. So they go back and both as often as they can and that seems to work for them. Adel made the meal and it was delicious. The conversation was fun as we told him some of our high school stories which we still think are hysterical and we laugh just as had about these stories as we did in the 1970s.
I made a donation on facebook today: Bridget E Kelly donated to Sam Klein's birthday fundraiser for The Satanic Temple.

I was up by 8 AM this morning for a medical procedure. OMG, I was so befuddled. I couldn't wake up and I had no coordination. And I remembered that this is how I felt every day when I work up for work.
I was off to the radiology department to drink barium in hopes of detecting why I had trouble swallowing sometimes. I had to drink barium, eat fuzzy beads, drink water, lay on my side. lay on my stomach, stand up straight and hold my breathe. The techician found a spot that is more narrow than the rest of my esphagus. So that is the area that will be expanded during my procedure in late June.
We had taco Tuesday here in the evening and it was great fun. Lots of people showed up and several of us hung around by the fire pit later. I brought down a few of the beers I picked up on my recent trip to Arkansas and we all tried them.

Kathy and her mother and I had lunch today at Lois' new senior home which is gorgeous. She moved in here in January, kicking and complaining. But she seems to have adjusted with grace and ease. She has a standing happy hour with several women. She had a small plot of a garden and there are tons of things for her to do during the day. this was a good move for her.
Later in the evening, I went down to the lounge, parked myself in my usual chair and Debbie showed up. We chatted for almost two hours and it is clear that life is exhausting her.
12- TH- PA
I had full intentions of going to either a movie or a brewery today but I forgot that that was my plan and so I just hung around here and got things done. I did a little cleaning. I rearranged my garden. I finally took Jameson's package to the post office. I wandered over to Couch Tomato and got a pizza. I sat on my balcony. I listened to a podcast. And I watched too many short videos on Youtube on the topic of furniture restoration.

This afternoon was a perfect day to sit and drink beer. So I met Mary Graham at The Attic Brewery- (3)- PA- She was late and I had finsihed my flight before she even arrived. I had a flight of four hazy IPAs and they were good but I really couldnt distinguish one from another. Then I tried their last two IPAs and they were delicious.
Afterwards, we grabbed sandwiches and went to Deb and Lisa's house to compain about the state of the country. Like them, I cant articulate how angry and frightened I am about

Today started with my yearly wellness visit with my nurse practioner. I reached a new milestone. I had to take my first old lady cognitive test. I had to draw a clock and indicate that it was 2:15. Then I was given three words (banana, pear, sunshine) and had to repeat them back five minutes later. Not only did I pass the test with flying colors, I also voluntarily recited Trump's word challenge from 2 years ago (man, woman, people, TV, camera). HOW DID I GET TO BE SO DAMN OLD?
Damn, I bought more damn plants but I think I am done, really, maybe and if I do buy more, it won't be many.
My gastro doctor called me late this afternoon and she was a bit concerned about my barium study. Now she wants to push my throat procedure, which was scheduled in late June, up as quickly as possible. She was willing to do it tomorrow if I was available. But I was not as I already had an oncology appointment.
I watched a surfing movie. I wonder why these movies are so intriguing to me. Maybe it is because I could never, ever imagine getting out on that board and finding myself in the middle of a giant wave. I would die of a heart attack.

17- TU- PA/DE- Election Primary Day
I had an early appointment with the oncologist. It took me an hour to get there. She saw me for 15 minutes and then it was another hour home. I was back in bed before I normally get up.
I voted which always makes me nervous. I always feel as if my vote could be the deciding vote so I better not fuck up. An old lady was in line, in front of me and she was very demanding of everyone's time. She announced to everyone that she is a life time republican. She than had to produce photo ID as this was her first time she voted at this spot. Her companion stated that he just mailed his ballot in and it was so easy. She replied, "isn t that illegal." Everyone within earshot, responded in unison, "no." She struggled with that request. She finally got her ballot and sat herself down to fill out her ballot. Her companion hoveled over her and he was told that he had to fill out a form if he was going to assist her in the process. She claimed that he wasnt helping her. She could do it on her own. She then turned to him and asked, "who's running for senate. I dont even know who is running."
Jaye asked me to come over for dinner. Dom cooked hamburgers on the grill. Andrea joined us. And the cancer is taking a toll on the three of them.
The election results are coming in and it is proving to be a nail biter. All of my candidates got there nomination. But the Republican Party has one dreadful candidate after another and these races are too close to call. The Senate race is the most critical race in my opinion. And right now, there are two candidates who are neck to neck in winning. There is only a 1500 vote difference between them. One candidate is a creepy TV doctor who has been backed by Trump and the otther guy is a creepy insurrectionist. Both men ran on a platform of overturning abortions. Both would be dreadful if they get elected in November.

I went to Sly Fox brewery- (4)- PA- I 've been here before and i liked it. I wasnt as inambered with it as I had been. My beers were just OK. But the bartender had me try a raspberry lemonade beer. It was great but it was no beer.

The day centered around my throat stretching procedures. Of course, the doctor found polyps in my throat and stomach. So she lanced them and sent them to the patholgoist. She doesn suspect cancer. And I should get the offical results in two weeks. I am not worried. And I have come to the conclusion that my body is filled with polyps.
The anthesisi wore me out. I spent most of the rest of the day in bed.

Today was Nettie's funeral. She was 94 and attnedance was by invitation only. We went to the Springfield Country Club which is where we held every celebration dinner when I was the principal at SHS.
I the evening, I ushered at Uptown show, Dreamland, a world premiere. It was a higschool play with all of the high school behaviors that I left behind 15 years ago when I left SHS.

OMG, it is so fucking hot. It's 95. The sun is intense and there isnt the slightest hint of a breeze.
The First Annual Porchfest was held this afternoon. Sharon and Tricia came in to town and joined me as we walked the streets and compaind about the heat. And when they left after tow hours, I sat in front of my fan.

It is still fucking hot and I am contemplating going to the pool later this afternoon. But I am sure the water will be too cold for me.
I reached a new milestone on my bog hits: 1,100,021. I wonder who is reading my blog. In the 7 years that I have been posting, I have only one follower.
I hung in the lounge and was just about ready to get ready to go to the pool and a thunderstorm rolled it. Thank god. I don't think I was really going to go but now I had an excuse for not going.

Sally and Stacey had an appointment with a travel agent to tie up loose ends with our September trip. So I joined them. I had hoped that we could do all of this on our own but I think that idea makes them nervous. They do not travel alot so they are hesitant to book anything. So far, my trip booking was 10% less. The travel agent quoted a flight at $800+ and I found one for $550. We are going to meet on Saturday and make more frim plans.
Lauren and I went to World Cafe to hear Avi Kaplan and he was fantastic. I loved every some he sang.
We had another painful, painful mass shooting of elemtary students. I want to throw up.
Wednesday- 25- PA/NJ
Went looking for a beach area not too far from west chester so I stopped at the Riverfron Beach Park and this isnt what I was looking for. I wanted a place where I could meet up with the kids and Heather for a simple beach day.
On the way home I stopped at Bonesaw brewery- (5)- NJ- I had an Irish Queen cream ale, udder nonsense nitro stout, swoosh juicy ipa, squeeze DIPA
Thursday- 26- PA/NJ
I drove to Ocean City, NJ to see the famous Egret Rookery. OMG, it was filled with hundreds of nests of egrets, herons and ibis. It was spectacular to see this beautiful moment and just what i needed to calm myself from the trageidies of the world.
On the way home I stopped at the Hidden Sands Brewery- (6)- NJ- all of my beers were delicious- imperial stout, 107 IPA, citrus Splash Sour, Amber Sands Ale. I liked this place.
Friday- 27- PA
OMG it rained today. I probably should have closed my balcony door as rain leaked in. So I just used this opportunity to mop the floors.
I went to the Amish Farmers' Market to purchase a new Andironeck chair. but they were well over $400
os I decided against it. That is just too much money. Instead, I bought barbaque ribs from the meat market.
Checked in with KF, Sue D, Deb G, Sharon, and Jaye. It seems as if I spent most of the day on the phone.
I had a zoom call with my chinese students. They have been stuck in quaratine for the last 76 days and they just wanted to hear a new, different voice. It was great to hear form them. They are all in successful careers and doing well.

Yesterday I had full intentions of getting up today and driving to Wellsboro to go to Cheery Valley State Park to see the dark skies and the stars. But I wasnt really prepared enough and my car needs an oil change and my tires need to be checked. So I decided to use this trip as motivation to get my car maintenance done.
I ran errands and came back home, got myself situated in the lounge and Debbie showed up. We chatted and then we all went to the Square Bar to celebrate Jeff's birthday.
