Philly to LBI

June 15-17, 2022

• I went with my two German friends, Kirsten and Martin. They have been in the Philly area for the last two weeks.
• 
  
• We had great weather. It rained on Thursday for a bit but then the sun came out and gave us a beautiful afternoon. So we raced to the beach.
• 
  
• 
  We stayed at the Spray Beach Hotel in Spray Beach. Kirsten and Martin styaed in a room overlooking the beach and I stayed in a room in the annex section across the street.
• 
  
• My uncle used to own this hotel in the 70's but that connection did not get us any discounts.
• 
  
• I also worked as a chamber maid at this place in 1973 and that didnt get me any discount as well.
• 
  
  
• We wandered in to the Ship Bottom Brewery and shared a flight.We had an IPA, a sour, a pilsner and a heizweissen and all of them were very good. I even liked the pilsner.
• 
  
• All of our food was excellent.  For breakfast we went to Uncle Will's Paancake House and I had the banana and strawberry french toast with a rum sauce.  I had this for both breakfasts.  For dinner, one night we went to the Marlin and I has the seared tuna with a sesame crust and that was delicious.  The night night we went to the Black Whale Resturant and I had the seared tuna with the apple marinated and that was delicious.  In hindsight, I see that I was in a bit of a food selection rut.  But my food was great.  We also had grilled calamari, baked oysters, crab and artichoke dip and something else.  And they were great.

• I packed a cooler of beers which we drank on the beach which is always a thrill for me because we are not allowed to drink beer on the beer.
• 
  
• We went to the Silve Sun Mall to buy tee shirts and the place has turned in to an uglt Trump store.  The entrance to the place is covered with so much Trump hate that we just turned around and left.
• 
  
• After we checked out of our hotel on Friday, we headed to my friend's house for the afternoon. The beach was so damn beautiful.  It was sunny and windy and difficult to keel my hat on so I got too much sun on my face.

• After we left the beach, my German friends flew home to Germany.  But Kirsten left with an interest in coming back in the future and renting a place for three weeks.
