Whistling

Learning To Whistle
A Conversation with my Nephew
West Chester, PA
March 6, 2020

My nephew is about to become a father for the first time.  This thought overwhelms me as I still think of him as a little boy even though he is now 39 years old. He's very excited and I asked him what he was doing to prepare for this life changing transition.

"I learned to whistle through my teeth", he proudly told me.

"What?"  I couldn't believe what he just said

"Yea, when I was a kid, all fathers knew how to whistle through their teeth so I decided to learn.  I needed to be prepared."

"How did you learn to do that,"  I wanted to know.

"I just went on youtube and looked at a few videos and practiced until I go it. It took me a couple of weeks."

"Show me", I demand.

He looks around the crowded bar and says "No, it will be too loud in here.  But all you have to do is put your lips tightly together and blow out air and then.  Never mind, just go on youtube and watch a video."
