Kentucky2018
I've only been here once and I think that is enough. I was motived to go here for two reasons: to visit Lincoln's birthplace and to visit a microbrewery in this state (I am visiting at least one brewery in every state).
So I was in Tennessee and heading back to Pennsylvania but thought it wouldn't be much of a detour to get to Lincoln's birthplace. So off I went. And as luck would have it, I got delayed in traffic and just arrived at my destination about 15 minutes after the park closed. That meant I now had to get a hotel room and try again if I really wanted to see this historic spot. it also meant that I would arrive in Philly a day later than planned. I decided to stay over and come back in the morning.
I got a room. I found a brewery and I got up early to get to the park as soon as it opened. I parked, went up the steps and got to see the actual log cabin where Lincoln once lived. Or so I thought. As I took my fair share of photos, I noticed some small print at the bottom of the cabin.
While people started with genuine good intentions, it was discovered at some point that this is not actually the cabin but rather a cabin from some 30 or 40 years after Lincoln was born. And so, seeing this cabin was no big thrill and I arrived in Philly a day later.
