Poole, England

Poole
England
September 22 and 23, 2018

Saturday
  • This is a layover stop.  I left Cardiff with the intent to go to the Isle of Jersey.  I need to take a ferry from Poole to get to Jersey. So I have a 4 hour train ride today to Poole, in the south of England.

  • Two days ago, I was informed that my ferry on Sunday was canceled due to potential high winds. I am reschedule for Monday. That cuts my two day trip to Jersey in half.

  • Today, there is some sort of breakdown on the rail between Cardiff and Poole so now I will sit here, at the train station, in the cold weather, until future notice. And someone dressed up like Beetle Juice is roaming the platform.  I cant decide if I should engage this person in conversation or ignore him.

  • If I have to wait long enough, I will have to re-think my trip to Jersey all together.  As it is right now, I will arrive on Monday afternoon and leave on Tuesday afternoon.

  • Long distance travel requires patience and I need to practice it today.  I am disappointed but I just need to embrace the moment.

Sunday-  My ferry to the Isle of Jersey was cancelled today due to bad weather. My backup trip to Old Harry Rock in the Jurassic Harbor was cancelled due to rough waters. And this is the nicest day I have had in the UK yet. I am left with no other recourse than to seek shelter at the oldest pub in the harbor: Poole Arms.
