Tent City

Tent City
Cecil County, MD
February 2017

It's behind the Acme where no one can see them.  It's a public park but it isn't used for that purpose. It's filled with tents and garbage and homeless people.  I first went there two years ago and there were no more than 15 tents.  I went there last week and now it seems as if there are 50 or 60 tents.  It has a feel of a community as there are pathways and neighbors and a designated place for trash.

When I went there last week, there was an addition of a linked fence that ran the length of the public park.  There was an entrance gate to the park. That seemed odd to me.  Why would any county legislator spend this kind of money?  This fence had to cost thousands of dollars. What was the purpose, the intent of the fence?

Today, I found out as I went there to unload some of my camping chairs.  The gate was locked and a No Trespassing sign was posted.  Everyone had to get out or face arrest.  But where will they go?
