Two Friends

My Mom and Mrs. Flatley

Philadelphia, PA

1962-1998

They met in 1962 when I was in 2nd grade.  They became instant friends and remained so until my mom died in 1998.  We lived down the street from the Flatleys.  They had 10 kids and my parents had 7 kids. And we were friends. We went to the same church and schools.  We were in the same clubs. We attended all of each other's life events: marriages, baptisms, funerals. And after 55 years, I am still friends with Kathy Flatley.

Mrs. Flatley still misses my mom after all of these years.  Every time I see her, she starts talking about my mom and then she has to stop before she slips too deep in to her sorrow.
