Columcille- Bangor, PA

Columcille Park

I lived near this park for 12 years but never heard of it.  When I lived in Stroudsburg, I made no effort  to explore its natural beauty.  Now that I am gone from there for over 15 years, I find myself wandering back and and finding places with a new sense of vision, with a new purpose.

As I was exploring places to visit for my 60/60 project, this place popped up in several tour books and destination sites. So i asked friends to take me there.  We strolled around and walked the meditation labyrinth and sat and pondered.  It was pleasant, a quiet sanctuary from the noises and distractions of every day life.

While I was there, a man was being interviewed for some sort of documentary.  I listened in and heard him talk about the pestering tendency for all of us to wander back to the negative thoughts that capture too much of our daily attention. He hoped this park could be a place where people freed their minds of these thoughts, even if it was only for a short period of time.

For this short period of time that I was in Columcille Park, my mind was free.
