It is Independence Day
for us Americans but there is no reference to it here in Haiti. We
celebrate alone.
However, as I wander
around today, I am bombarded with the reality that many, many people in Haiti
are still in temporary tents after the devastating earthquake of 2010. The
American people have supplied all of these tents as we so proudly stamped on
the side of thousands and thousands of tents. And for today, I am proud
to be an American in Haiti.
