Sahara Desert- July 2008

It is the eve of my 53rd birthday and I find myself on a camel in the Sahara Desert in Morocco.  I am with a group of strangers.  We have all come together to ride on a camel for three hours to get to some remote spot in the middle of nowhere. We are going to spend the night in the desert.

We have an option to sleep in a large, dark tent.  But it is hot, pitch black, smelly and gnat infested. There is nothing pleasant about this option.  I make a suggestion that we grab our blankets and sleep under the stars.  At first, this idea is not well received but then one by one, everyone likes the idea. "When are you ever going to have the opportunity again to sleep under these magnificent stars?" I ask solely as a means to manipulate them to do what I want.  So they all agree and we run and get blankets and grab a spot to rest for the night.

As everyone settles in, I look to see who is on my blanket.  It's the three, young handsome men from Brazil. Two are on my left and one is on my right.  The four young women from Europe are over by themselves.  And the Australians have taken up residency near the camels.

I announce to everyone that it has always been my dream to sleep with three, young, handsome Latino men and tonight, my dream is coming true.  Everyone laughs,  But one of the Brazilians gets up, takes inventory of the situation  and moves in with the Australians.  I guess he didn't want to sleep with me.  Sadly, on the eve of my 53 birthday, my dream is still unfulfilled.
