My Niece's View: Philly

This is her rooftop and I love to sit up here in the early evening in the spring or summer and drink beer, enjoy the evening breeze and take pleasure in the conversations with my family. I have hinted several times to be invited to come up here and watch the fireworks on the 4th of July. But in the three years that she has lived there, no invitaiton has been forthcoming.  I may have to just show up one year. I'm sure she will answer the door and let me in.

Jameson and Rebecca's Wedding

Jameson and Rebecca's Wedding

July 5, 2025

Steele, VA

  • They got engaged in February and Rebekah said she wasn't having a long engagement and she meant it.
  • My brother booked an entire BedAndBreakfast house and this decision added so much enjoyment to the event. We all had a common place to hang.
  • There were no bridesmaids or groomsmen.  It was just Jameson and Rebecca.
  • Fifty people were invited to the wedding.
  • Jameson's grandfather made it to the event.  Back in February, we thought he was going to leave this earth. But he rallied today and made it to the ceremony and reception.
  • People started arriving throughout the afternoon of the 4th. Friday night, we had a family party at the AirBnB.
  • Saturday, the wedding ceremony was in a small church in Steele Tavern.  It lasted about 20 minutes.
  • We had a reception at a state park, about an hour away. Friends of the family set up the event and we had hamburgers and mac-n-cheese and other picnic foods.  There was no alcohol as the bride's family are devout Baptists.  But that was OK.
  • Rebecca is vegan so her sister made two vegan wedding cakes. And we were all a litttle hesitant to try vegan as it is so foreign to us.
  • After the shower, everyone came back to the AirBnB and we had another family party. And there was plenty of alcohol.
  • A man stopped by and asked if our place was a restaurant.  He was hungry and looking to eat. So Brian invited him in. We had an official wedding crasher.
  • This party didn't end until 12:30AM and I was so damn tired.
  • On Sunday, at 7:45AM, my siblings and I had breakfast at the AirBnB and one by one, we slipped in to our cars and went home.
  • This weekend was so much damn fun.

Snorkeling

The first time I went snorkeling was in BVI and I was so scared.  I am not a swimmer and the tide was a little rough and I found the goggles to be unnerving to wear.  I had conveyed my nervousness to everyone on the boat so they all assured me that they would watch out for me and make sure I was safe.

I jumped in and quickly looked down and popped up immediately.  I just couldn't believe what I saw.  One woman asked with concern, "Are you alright?"

I struggled to get my mask off. I was so excited.  "I feel like I have been blinded and now I see", I told her.

Supporting Immigrants #3

I understand why some people feel we should just send undocumented immigrants back. It seems like the simple answer. But when you look closer, it’s not that simple. Many have been here for years, raised families, built lives, and contributed in countless ways. They’re not strangers. They’re our neighbors, our coworkers, even the people caring for our children or fixing our homes. Tearing them away doesn’t make our country stronger, it breaks families, communities, and the very values we claim to stand for. I believe in law and order, but I also believe in mercy, in second chances, and in building a country where hard work and hope are honored, not punished.

Apponaug Brewing Company- RI

We sat on the deck of this brewery and watched the creek as it flowed pass us.  It was July. There was a slight, delightful breeze and the moment was joyful.  The beers were delicious and I could have sta here all night but we had to get up early the next day and head up to Maine.

Falling Apart

Falling Apart

Perryville, MD

For years, I watched this house crumble in to complete decay.  It sat back, off the road. No one lived there and no one maintained this house. And so it slowly began to crumble and cave in. And then one day it was compeltely gone. It was as if nothing every existed on this spot. And a few years later, there is still nothing there.

Here is some useless information I just learned : “You have been alive for 25,115 days.” I think I may have wasted a few of these days.

Maureen O'Reilly Naylor
…and you have had an amazing impact on many young people on a majority of those days
Lori Bermudez
I don’t think so.

Eleanor Rosatti
No way Bridget...you are one busy lady!!!!
Sally Doan
Ya think?

Paula Fitzpatrick
No, Bridget E Kelly, you never waste anything…..
Ask Rosina Rucci…..

Rosina Rucci
Paula Fitzpatrick well she did waste the good will of the school store nun who actually thought she was a hardened criminal ……
